Please help - Desperate - REWARD
--- POST FROM LAST NIGHT --- REPOSTED HERE ---
I just drove home tonight in my 2004 TSX. About a mile from my destination my nav turned off, my radio turned off, and my clock turned off. But, MOST IMPORTANT, I can't put my can in reverse or park. No fuses are blown that I can tell.
WHAT ELSE CAN THIS BE??? Please help...
Reward to the first person who helps me fix this...
Either:
$10 or
1 of several 2004 Tsx stock interior parts for ebony interior.
--- POST FROM THIS MORNING ---
I was hoping the car would 'sleep it off' but trying again this morning resulted in more of the same.
A few more notes on what does and doesn't work. Brake lights work. All electrical devices work except center console (radio, clock, display for temp, 12 V outlets) although seat heaters still work.
Car starts fine (in neutral) ... but I did notice the "anti theft" light on the 'tuning' knob of the radio was blinking even with the car started.
If I can't figure it out soon, then I am definitely going dealer style today.
Thanks to all. I will let you know what happens

if you're still in the warranty period, take it to the dealer asap. i'd say you pulled a harness, but then you wouldn't get the anti-theft light. with the tranny problem, it sounds like it's something with the ECU.

ECU? Electronic control unit? Is that what is stands for?
I called the dealer and they can't work on it till tomorrow... so I have all of today to try to figure it out myself.
Any suggestions on diagnosing the problem would be great.
Thanks.

Isn't this just another center console light issue?

To at least be able to drive the car, you could take a small flathead screwdriver and pry out the shift override cover to depress it to temporarily get the car shifted.
Seems the shift solenoid is not engaging for some reason. It's that click you hear when you step on the brake and are trying to move the shifter to the right to get past Park. The solenoid also prevents accidental shifting back into reverse when the car is in neutral and rolling. Not certain if the ECU monitors this function.

Do all gauges work? Speedometer, MID, temp, etc? (Thinking out loud here for ideas), but would disconnecting the battery possibly reset the symptoms? Maybe try holding down the AUX button for 10 seconds? I read in another thread it will shut off the backlight to the top display but I could still see the LCD characters in bright sunlight). Can you see any LCD characters without a backlight?
When pressing Navi buttons like Map, Setup, and cancel at the same time, can you access the diagnostics screen? Does the system give any audible beeps? Look in the O/M, do you see any relay modules in the fuse box that maybe you could reseat under the hood or dash?

I checked all of the fuses last night (actually around 1:00am this morning) and all of them looked OK. But, since I have nothing else to do I decided to check them again. Turns out my ACC fuse (7.5 amp, top row, second from right on the fuse box by the driver's foot) was blown. Replaced it and everything came back on!!! And I can put my car in reverse, park, etc.
But now it is asking me for a pin when I turn on the car. Where do I get this?
Thanks to all.

Hey, this is a common problem in the TSX. There is a possibility of 2 problems with this. One seems to hit alot of 2004 TSX's. The centre console lighting turns off and dealers will have to order in a whole new head unit.. this has happened to alot of people over at tsxclub.com. the other senario (the one I encountered) is just a blown fuse. Yes, there IS a seperate fuse for that area, a blown fuse there would mean your door lights/ map lights/dome lights and centre console/clock is all out, cept the blue ambient lighting. Take it to your dealer.
=====================
I was just going to ask you about if the ambient blue and map lights worked but it will be good info for others! The PIN should be in your owners manual leather case or in the glove box as sticker somewhere. Also, if the dealership registered you with OwnersLink website, sometimes they put the info there too.

OK, so here is my theory why you might have blown the fuse. Do you have a charger cord plugged into the port in the console? If this same fuse controls that socket, then you need to take a look at this. Acura sent out a monthly service bulletin about the design of the socket causing blown fuses:

Well, my map lights and ambient lights still worked. And I did find the PIN numberS in the owners manual. I needed one pin to get the nav back up and another CODE to get the audio working.
But, all is again peaceful, THANK GOODNESS!!!

joerockt... do you have paypal? You got $10 coming your way.
If you have paypal, what is the address?

TSXxOPKS -
I have the old version, the one that blows the fuse according to the PDF you sent.
Is this a recall item? Free replacement?
Thanks again.
