Peeling leather seat.

Hello,

I know that Acura's leather isn't the best quality, but I noticed tonight that by one of the perforated holes, I have a little piece of the leather cover starting to peal up. Anyway, I'm not sure if something on my pants, or something a technician had in his pocket at the dealership caught the leather. However, what do I do about this? Can this be fixed? Will the whole seating surface area start to peel now?

Lastly, I have an 07 TSX with 21k miles. Would Acura possibly replace this under factory warranty? If not, what would I be looking at for a new seat cover? Is the top seat cover seperate from the bottom one?

Thanks much!

Jeff

The ass part and the back part are separate if that's what you're asking. Acura would not likely cover it if it's damage, which from your description, it sounds like. How large of an area are you talking about here? You might be able to glue it back down with the right glue but I'm not sure what that would be. I've seen plenty of leather glued together so I know it exists.

if it looks like little flaps (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?i...mg31392wq7.jpg), my particular acura dealer says they will not cover it under warranty; i know because i have the same problem and already asked. they call it normal wear-&-tear. they said the only way to get it fixed by the dealer is to get an acura rep to come down and look at it and ok the fix. at least that's what my hobo dealership told me...

You want a whole new seat for that? I'm with the dealer on this one.

I had the seat covering replaced on the driver's side about a year ago. The dealer replaced it free without have to get a acura rep. Guess I am lucky.

i've posted my other pics in other "leather seat" threads so i won't post them again. as those pics show, the leather in the driver's seat is remarkably different from the one on the passenger seat (which also gets moderate usage). i believe another guy posted his bunching up middle insert too. this is another consumer with similar tears in the seat.

i'm sorry for wanting decent, non-cracking, non-tearing, non-bunching leather inserts. i mean, i only had the car for less than a year. i only weigh 170lbs and am not rough with the car. i guess i'm asking for too much?

i condition it, clean it, vacuum it at least 2x month. same products i've used on my 2001 toyota highlander w/premium package. i had pristine leather with no cracks, tears, or bunching up issues in the 7 years of ownership. perhaps my expectations are different than yours, but, when i'm buying a near $30K car, i'd expect the 'quality' parts to actually be 'quality' parts...
