Paint Chip, First Ride!

Well, picked up my first Acura TSX this morning, a new 2007 black MT no nav, and I love the way it rides.

But on the way home, I must have kicked up a pebble, since there's a small chip on the right front fender area. Aaargh!!!!

The chip seems to go through to the undercoat, since it's white-ish, but not bare metal.

So, what's the best way to touch it up?

Simple black automotive paint, like I'd get at a car supply store?

Or any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Dave, who paid $26.7K for this very nice object

Take it back to the dealership and tell them that the car came that way. And unless you inspected it in detail before you left the lot, there's a pretty good chance that the chip probably came from a guy being not careful enough during the PDI.

For small scratches, you can try the paint pen, which can be bought at the dealership, or also from H and A Accessories online. They're still working on getting the product listed under Acura vehicles, but you can buy the same thing for a nighthawk black Honda, such as the Accord. I just bought mine, hasn't come in yet, though.

And congrats on your purchase!

Pay $10 at the dealer parts counter for touch-up paint. You'll need it for future endeavors. My 04 nav has some touch-ups covering nicks, dings, etc.

Yeah, from what I hear, Honda and Acura paint is very, very cheap. Sad, for such a nice car. I was debating on putting a second clear coat on the car, but don't want to pay the money for it. I would just buy the touch up paint from the dealer.

dealer won't do squat about it..your best bet is to go to the dealer and get some touchup paint. After touchup paint is dry, go back out and get a clearbra installed bc it will only happen more and more.

I have had mine since the end of December and from driving it during the winter with salt and chips on the roads, the end of my hood looks pretty bad. Car is currently getting serviced today where I will proceed to get some touch up paint then clear bra it.
