Help! Smell through vents.. permanent?

Help! Smell through vents.. permanent?

Ok so i was filling my windwasher fluid today and i accidentally spilled a little (very small amount) down the side of the tube... partially thanks to my stupid friend.. now whenever i turn on the AC it smells like the stuff aka CHLORINE.. gives me a headache.. my friend said it happened to his mom and it's permanent once it circulates.. ahh help me... any suggestions on how to get rid of it?

Your windscreen washer fluid shouldn't contain chlorine. And what you could have done was just to rinse the area around the washer tube with water (just don't pour it directly on your alternator)

um i don't think that's the case because it doesn't smell inside the engine anymore... it doesn't contain chlorine, just smells like it

Alternate between recirculate and fresh air while driving with your windows partially open. It should all come out after a few days.

I don't think spilling windshield washer fluid has anything to do with the smell from your vents. The fluid will run down the tube and out the bottom of the engine bay, whatever settles will evaporate. The air for the inside of the cabin is taken from the intake vents at the base of the front windshield. Did you just recently use your A/C for the first time in a while? I bet the smell is a result from the A/C condensation getting moldy inside your vents. Read the thread Viking posted above.

um but it smells exactly liek the stuff i'm spraying on my windshield... identical.. can't mistake it cause it smells like chlorine.. i doubt it's mold..

and plus it happened only AFTER the spill happened.. i was driving all day beforehand...

The intake vents for the A/C are just in front of the wipers.

i see.. but it also smells when i don't use the fluid... you think the smell is coming from the use of the fluid? if thats the problem then how should i go about emptying the tank?
