That is jacked up!!!
Last year, I met my daughter at an oil change place so I could pay for it. They were training a new guy and he forgot to put oil into the Grand Am. I paid and my daughter drove off to her place. The next day she called me and the car sounded like a diesel engine. The quicky lube place paid for a new engine and a rental car, total cost was about $6800 for everything. They even gave me my money back on my oil change. I wish I had my 97 Accord with +160,000 miles in for an oil change that day.

Summer is Coming
Years ago I took my Honda Accord (my first car) to the dealer for a scheduled maintenance which included an oil change. Next time I went to change the oil I jack up the car, slide under with my wrench to remove the drain plug... and I notice is is just about hanging out. There were maybe 2 threads holding the plug in. It was dripping a little oil but I didn't bother to check it out. A few more miles and I would have lost all the oil.

Once I went to a place which was having an oil change special with my then fairly new Voyager. I watched the guy do the oil change and noticed he didn't re-fill the oil. I allowed him to park the van and I went and paid for the change. I promptly popped the hood and checked the oil and yep, sure enough. Bone dry dip stick!
At that point I went back in and got the manager and explained to him that I had no oil. He said "not again". He personally came out and check it himself,
then went and got the oil and fill my van. A few months earlier they had to replace an engine because of the same problem.
I do all of my oil changes myself since then.

should be moved to Ramblings
but this just continues to solidify why I do my own oil changes. I know the half-hour I spend is worth more than what I would pay someone. But at least I know it was done correctly.
