Dealership just called about headlights.....help!!

The dealership just called me about my headlight condensation. I was told they would replace them under warranty and now i just got a phone call saying they are trying reproduce the condensation and in the message i got it said they had my car in the carwash for the past 20 mins trying to find a leak ?!?!?!?! I just called them back and left a message but are you serious?? I needed them to check my window leak too but in a 20 min carwash i will have water in my car for weeks....in addition to a MASSIVE amount of paint swirls now

Any suggestions on what i can say to have them replace the headlights without reproducing the water inside the headlight??

What the hell...this is a well known problem and they should not be giving you issues about it. Try speaking to someone higher up or Acura customer service, maybe they can help.

Ask if they will accept a picture of your headlights (from next time they have condensation) that includes your licence plate or something for verification.

condensation requires specific conditions, I've found... and is hard to reproduce at will.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the dealership, i can understand them wanting to reproduce but curls, your right it is very hard to reproduce it since i only get it when it is really cold out during rain and today and yesterday have been really warm compared. I'm just pissed about them putting my car in the carwash for fricking 20 mins, probably even more.

Glad i could bring some amusement to your day joerockt!!!

Heh, sorry. I had the same problem you did, but I brought mine in the next day, so the condensation was still there. But I did remember to take a pic of it the night before. So I had that as back up incase they called me to say "Hey, we cant reproduce, so we've been running it through the carwash for the last 20mins."

Your dealership gets the "fucktard of the day" award.

HAHA, its cool, but they sure do!! Well i found it LATE saturday night and by sunday afternoon it was gone and i didn't think to take a picture of then for backup proof. So i will try and fight them when they call me back but we'll see.

jmathew34 - yea seriously, i shouldn't have a spec of dirt on there, just scratches

The dealership just called me back and asked me when the condensation shows up since they couldn't reproduce it and i said it only happens when it gets cold, and obviously not today since its warm. He said ok, and said they would replace them but he had to order them and it would take a few days. I was already under the impression that they had the lights since i was told they would be replaced today. Oh well, now i have to take it back there to have them put in and they didn't find anything wrong yet with my window leak. I asked him if they actually put the window down, because that is what gets wet, and he said oh, no they didn't. He did agree with me about a lot of TSX's coming in with that, so i still don't know why they questioned it then, oh well. Dealership didn't do to well today and now i get a very swirled and "clean" car with no changes from before....lol.

At least they are ordering the lights.....sheesh

For anyone else, make sure you just take a picture of the ccondensation and take that in with your from the beginning like joerockt took, and i'm sure many other normal people, unlike myself....hah.

Thanks for your responses guys!

Lucky for me, my condensation appeared while the car was still at the dealership, so I had them order the light and then brought it back when it came in. At least they are replacing it and not denying you. Now that would suck.

Yea, i wasn't as lucky with that!

I just got another call from the dealership about my weather stripping and the guy i'm talking to with this issue must be a younger guy cause he says "We put the car in the car wash like 20 times, and can't seem to find much wrong. The weaterstripping isn't fully clipped in, but its not enough to cause a problem." 20 CARWASHES!!!!! Obviously he is exagerating a little, bit what the $%*# man!! This is getting ridiculous to point where if i don't laugh now i will be pissed. Guess i just will have to spend a whole lot of time with some swirl remover!!!
