Oh how it hurts

After being all ramped up about doing my first mods this week (other than tint) I crashed my TSX today. The damage could've been worse but it wasn't pretty. Those airbags certainly do a number on you though. My ears are ringing like mad still and I've got some cuts and burns just from the airbag. I imagine it would've been worse without them though. Will post painful pics when I get to see her again

I was the first car sitting at a red light. When it turned green the first car opposite of me was turning left and I could tell was going to jump to turn. I accelerated slowly to let him go (didn't flash him or anything). After he went I hit the gas to go straight and the next car (Dodge Grand Caravan) went also. I was already 3/4 of the way through the intersection so I can't fathom what she was thinking when she decided to go. We hit head on and I felt like I had just gotten beat up (by the airbags as it were).

She was also making a left turn. Just to clarify.

Definitely not my fault. Her car seemed much worse too. Similar in damage but her car spewed oil all over the street which doesn't bode well for her engine. No fluids leaked from mine. Headline: "TSX KO's Grand Caravan in Grand Fashion"

I'm sure all will be cool. I'll post pics in the coming days, most likely Wed. since it's at the salvage yard now and I'll see the claims adjuster on Tues. Now I'm gonna hit the hay so I can wake up tomorrow and feel like a million bucks! lol

Hey, good to hear that you're ok Thats one of the reasons why i bought my TSX was because of its high crash test ratings. Also from reading on this forum about how great the car held up during different crashes that people had encountered. Sorry about your baby though. Hope they can fixer right up for ya soon so you can get back to driving bliss!!!

That sucks about the crash. I'm really glad for you though that you got off with just a mild beating instead of knocking all you teeth off the steering wheel. Good luck with the insurance and repairs.

Dude, sorry to hear about the crash. Glad you're okay.

Still, a testament to the quality of Acura's safety equipment and engineering. So do your clothes still wreak of the sulfur from the exploders for the nitrogen capsules? When I crashed my Integra, my jacket reaked for nearly a week.

Agh, careless drivers!

At least you're okay, although your car isn't.

Yes, did she get a citation? Any witnesses? I know that in my state the person who is turning left is more at fault.

This has less to do with her turning left and more to do with her running a red light.

I can't believe all of the stupid people who are allowed to drive. Just be careful that she doesn't find some witness to claim she didn't run the light. I got screwed once because this bitch in the other car found some racist prick to claim that she wasn't speeding and violating a number of other traffic laws when she hit me.

To her I say

Yeah, I saw this happening with my accident too. My car was parked, and the white woman in car #1 who hit car#2 and its black driver into my car #3. The offending driver received free legal advice from some dude who was nearby, even though she was clearly at fault. She then became "injured" and wouldn't respond to my interrogation

Alright, I went and took pics so I'll upload them in a minute. Every time I see the car again (I went back last night to get valuables out of it) I feel a little better. This car sure is built pretty strong...we were both going about 10 MPH but head on it's more like 20 MPH into a wall so I'm amazed there isn't more damage to the TSX.

where in PA did this shiet happen ?
Kennett Square, PA

Yes. That shit stinks. Isn't too bad on my clothes today though, really stunk last night.

The cop didn't note on the report who was at fault and didn't cite her, but in talking with the claims rep. today her insurance is already paying for my rental which means they are most likely accepting liability. I'll find out for sure today or tomorrow about that.

Posting pics next...

Not nearly as bad as I expected. Doesn't look like there was any structural damage done so it should be a purely cosmetic repair.

Good Luck.

That doesn't look too bad - doesn't look like it would even set the airbags off, but I guess the impact was right where there's a sensor.

At least we know they go off! I hope it works out well - believe me, I know how much this situation sucks

Yes it always seems worse b/c of the impact of the airbags. The crash itself was pretty hard, enough that it caused her engine to drop all of its oil on the road, but like I said the Acura held up like a tank!

Hey, great to hear that they're accepting responsibility.

The car doesn't look as bad as I expected. Pretty good testament to the proper engineering. Wonder if the frame was damaged?

OK, I have got to ask. Did you have a passenger? If not, pass. air bag should not have gone off. I have seen some weird things going on with TSX bags.

No passenger. I was wondering the same. The passenger bag broke the windshield - you can see in one of the pictures.

I'll find out soon if the frame was damaged or not, but I'm guessing no. I did notice that opening the driver door is a little stiffer now so I'll have to make sure that is addressed in repairs. The car has already been towed to the repair shop and they're doing an estimate. No wasted time here!

The passenger front bag still goes off, it's the passenger side airbag that doesn't go off when nobody is in the seat.
