odor because of humidity

My TSX's AC system, because of the humidity in the city I live, begins to develop some serious odor that resembles, say, horse manure.

I have heard that professional service can get rid of this problem (by flusing the entire AC system?), at least temporarily. I have also heard it's not cheap.

Has anybody used the service before? Can the dealer do it?

Thanks.

Naaa, dont bother with that. Just turn on your AC full crank with the vent OPEN. Grab a can of Lysol and start spraying into the air intake just below the driver side wiper.

That should do the trick. May need to do it every few weeks.

It needs to be a spray. Aerosol is better. It needs to kill bacteria and mold.

MILDEW. I had this same problem just a few weeks back. I didnt use the A/C over the summer and when i used it for the first time since the cabin reeked like a " spoiled meat " like when u leave a steak to defrost and forget abt it.. that dried up blood smell Yeck. Others describe it as a wet sock

Turn the A/C on hi on fresh air setting. Spray Lysol over the vents near the windshield. Have it run for a couple of minutes. I also changed the vent settings in between sprays to cover all the possible locations the $#%%@ spore can hide

Did it several times over a couple days and it didnt come back since.

That wont help shit. You need to kill the mold and mildew inside the system thats causing the smell.

I have used this on three cars before but not the TSX. It worked perfectly.

"Don't mask odors with fragrances -- treat them. Klima-Cleaner is an effective means for removing odors from the air conditioning unit by eliminating odor-causing bacteria, fungi and other germs. Works by effectively cleaning the evaporator -- the source of the problem. Simply insert included spray hose into the center air vents in your vehicle's interior and spray. Allow to work for 30 minutes. Creates a healthy and fresh smelling environment that lasts for months. 250 ml aerosol"
