New engine sound
New engine sound
This afternoon I started my 5 day old TSX and it sounded kind of funny to me. Its a little warmer so I cant blame cold weather. Basically, as I accelerated, it just kind of whined loud enough for me to notice. It kind of went away (but not completely) as the day went on. Any ideas?

4 cylinder engines larger than 2.0L have some vibrations. Balancer shafts have little weights on them and spin in the opposite direction and twice the rpm of the motor. They counter act the vibration forces making the engine run smooth.

I have that whining sound as well, and even asked the dealer about it. Supposedly its just he air intake and is quite normal. There have been threads on this subject if you want to try a search.
