trying to find out if i can replace the outer screen on the navigation. mine is cracked but the system works.

 

Ouch, sorry to hear that. As far as I know, the screen is all a part of the navigation unit itself, and the whole unit would need to be replaced. That whole part costs ~ $800.

May I ask, how did it crack?

 

i bought the car used and the seller said he would go ahead and instead of being upside down on my old car. that he would pay my car off. $3800.which the car itself is really nice and well taking care of. but the cracked screen \,and the upper led works but is not bright. looks like the first owner was pissed and hit it. might look into getting a dvd player to put in its place.

I put some scratches on the screen. It does not look bad, but just wanted to know if it is possible to replace that plastic piece in front of the navigation screen. Any idea about the cost?

 

I dont think you can replace just the screen. i have been searching for that answer for a while now. the screen seems to have lines in it. i took a flashlight and looked while the car was off. but,I have an appt. tomorrow at the dealer and will find out for sure.they do make protective screens for it. I have pondered at trying to see if i could take it apart but i really do not want to mess anything up.I will let you know what i find out.

 

You really need to get access to who makes the system. Either know some one from the manufacturing plant or some one from Navigation business.

I tried fixing it with some eye glass scratch remover, but it didn't seem to work.

Has anyone tried to fix it with NOVUS or Displex?

The best case would be to get the screen from the nav manufacturing plant.
