Is my TSX done playing tricks on me?!?!?!

Hi all... don't mean to become a bugger... but I found another strange thing..

Ok, here is a summary of issues that I have now and hope some of you can provide input:

1) When attempting to reset my homelink, I pressed all 3 buttons and hopefull, it should start blinking to tell me that the previous codes are removed... It doesn't blink anymore...

2) My key fob sometimes doesn't work.... well, I can use my key to unlock/lock the car... but there are 2 concerns:

a) when locking it manually, it only locks the driver door.. none of the passenger door
b) when unlocking manually, I opened the driver door and the car alarm starts up!!!!

I have tested my husband key fob as well and the same thing happens. Is there a 'secret' battery for the remote fob inside the car that sense the remote????

Any input will help...

I'm getting to the point to force my dealership to give me a new car!!!!!

Jac

There is nothing that can go wrong with the remote to cause that problem with only the driver's door locking, or the alarm going off after unlocking. It sounds like this car's main ECU is des compuesto. I would get it offf the road ASAP and get it in there.

They wont give you a new car because of this.

Take it to the dealership, its under warranty. Its not that hard.

Aren't you only supposed to hold the 1st and 3rd button?

That's what I remember too. I think she pressed the wrong buttons. For what it's worth, .

Might be cheaper to replace the car than the husband. Course tradding in spouses and sporting a new model every couple of years sounds like an appealing concept. Anyone know of a spouse lease program?

oh... sorry.. did I write all buttons? I tried the most left and most right at the same time first, and then I grapped the quick help user guide and then tried every single combinations that were listed in there and the light just stays bright and not blinking.

Thanks for all other about 'husband' recommendation... but the thing is that it's not only his fob not working, mine is not working either...

hm... thinking of calling the Acura tech support myself (which becuase I believe they will tell me to bring the car home and try again like what they did to me the other 3 times until they called the tech support line and found out something that none of the service people know...).

Your joking right? Those should be easily fixed problems by the dealer.

Amazing what little it takes to set some people off. Life's too short for that shit...

little? ya... maybe little... but here u go... this is a list of things that we have since we picked up the car:

1) deep scratch on inside switch panel
2) voice command receiving unit need replaced (2 trips)
3) homelink getting weird
4) locking/unlocking system not working
5) user error (which wasn't mentioned in the user manual at all) (3 trips)

All these (excluding (3) & (4)) had already cost me 5 trips to the dealership since picking up the car beginning of April this year.

Is it consider little? ya... they are all little things... but add up... what's wrong with my luck????? I love this car... God please fix it!!!!

My "little" comment was based on the list you started this thread with.

So let me ask you a question. When you go to pick your car up, do you just take their word for it that they fixed the problems or do you actually check the car before you drive off to make sure the items you took it in for are fixed?

sigh... I really don't want to get this far... but I guess it came to a point that they don't trust what a woman says...

What they have done to me was (I'm using my voice command problem and the auto dimming feature on the NAVI as examples here):

1) I told them what the dimming problem was:

The service people at the 1st dealership kept my car for 1 day and said that it works and blamed it on me that I had it set to Day mode (well, of course I had to change it to DAY mode because the AUTO mode was not working and so I had to manually change it). But I still took it home hoping that maybe it was my fault on the setup (that was given my 1st visit to them and so it's more of a leap of faith on my end... my fault). I tried and still not working. My 2nd visit to the 1st dealership, left the car for a day. When picking it up, then the service people told me that they didn't even know how to use that dimming feature and wanted me to show them how it should work.... So I gave up on the 1st dealership.

2nd dealership kept my car for a day (which I also brought in for the maintenance anyway), sounds like they know how to use it... (thank god!!!) so I left it for a day. When I took it back, they told me again that it works. So I brought the service reception person to show him what I meant by not working. So it doesn't work... Then he lied to me that, 'oh, there is a sensor on the front, maybe it's too bright and that's why it is not working.'..... Ok, given that they should be more expertise on these things than me, I took it home and tested it. Of course it doesn't work. So I brought it back again and told them that it wasn't working still. Then, they finally found out that it wasn't working and they actually called the Acura tech support and found out what's not being written in the user manual - it will not work if the dashboard light is set to max level. THEY DIDN'T KNOW (even given some nice people in this forum know about this - I have to say thanks to the one who provide me with this info but which I misread). When the service reception guy showed me what 'went wrong', he actually thanked me and said no one in this dealership knows about this until they found this out from this incident....

2) About the voice command:

1st dealership, I told them it wasn't working... They questioned if it was my accent even without testing it out. They completely reset my NAVI (so all saved addresses were gone...) and said it would work. I was in a rush to go home so I had to try on my way home (the fact is that I don't believe it would have been my responsibility to test things out myself. They should have tested it before returning the car to me). Well, of course, every command I said, the outcome was always 'Air conditioner' again.... (if you had follow my older thread on this problem). Then I called them and they again, questioned me whether it was my accent!!!! I really wanna said F U and maybe the NAVI will pick it up!!!! I had to bring the car in and talk to our sales rep, had he tested it out (he had even worst accent than me). It wasn't working for him... then he had to tell us to test on their demo (given that my husband's speaks English since he was 6, if it's not working on him, I believe that there's definitely something wrong). We tested it, even with me speaking, it works like a charm!!!! Then they ordered the parts. What a loooooooong wait for parts from 'Japan'!!!!! After like a month, I called and the part still wasn't in... so I complained and I told them to take the part from an existing TSX and put it in my car right away!!!! Then, next day, miracle happened, the part arrived!!!! They put it in... everything perfect on the voice command.

Now you know all the frustrations that I have gone through with my car.

Phew! Thanks for giving me a chance to vent again.

I'm going to get a new battery for the fob to see if it's really something wrong with the battery...

If my fob doesn't work, should using the key to unlock the door deactivate the alarm? Mine is not doing it... My fob didn't work aain when I was done work yesterday and was about to leave work. I used the key to unlock the door. The alarm still went off when I open the door. A stupid workaround that we found is to go into the car and start the car, turn off the car, come back out, shut the door, and then relock the door with the fob. I didn't do it quick enough yesterday and someone from my company actually came out to see if I was ok...

oh no....

I tried my 'trick' and it's not working!!!! It is totally not responding... and the car alarm was activated 3 times until someone from inside my company came and tried help... Nothing works... The 2nd dealership is sending someone over now... Maybe need to call roadside assistance to tow the car over... and they have no loaner coming back... I'm stuck.... lucky my lovely husband is willing to drive me home...

I'M GOING TO ASK FOR A NEW TSX!!!!!!

Don't be too hopeful. This could just be the begining. Don't get me wrong, I don't want you to have to go through this, but just don't get too excited until it's all fixed. Maybe I've just had too many bad experiences where the problem just will never end.

sigh... I guess you had the experience before and you know what... you are correct... The next day I drove it to work (Friday... Canada holiday weekend... no dealership was opened)... it happened again!!!!! My hubby had to come all the way from home (a 50 km drive) to come for a rescue... He pressed this and that... lucky to get the alarm stopped... Drove home. Had use the key to lock and unlock since then. I thought it was going to work because I'm not pressing anything on the fob anymore, ad I had tested unlocking the car with the key, the alarm light did go off. Went for a wedding yesterday without using my car. Tried use the key to unlock the door again this morning... the alarm light didn't stop!!!!!!!!

Something is soooooo wrong....

Acura in Markham is ok and it's the 2nd dealership that I went to for all my problems as mentioned in the trail. So I guess it's still better than the ErinMills one...

You have to make sure they really test your car out before returning it to you and just tell you that it is working.... don't just believe and drive off... that's my advise.

I went to ErinMills (in Missisauga) and that's the 1st dealership... the service people attitude was sooo bad and I believe yesterday when they told me that they had ordered a locking control unit (that's what they said what is going wrong), they didn't really test the unit out... they just THINK that it is what's causing the problem... I think they just test my fob with the car and that's it. They didn't even drive my car in for any diagnostic test... because my car was at the same spot from start to end (it was sooo busy that day and I don't believe they can get the same spot if they would have driven into the garage)... plus the alarm wasn't even on (it wasn't on when I locked my car when I got there).

As a note.. ErinMills was the service people I went to for changing oil for the integra and they totally forgot to put oil back into the car... We found out when we drove onto the highway and found car started to smell weird... then we parked on the side and found out there was NO oil!!!!!! They blame it on the machine putting oil in not working properly....

can't believe they are that bad... i felt sorry for you.. complain to Acura Canada, as for FOB problem, it's ECM or locking unit remember your FOB unit. so i think the problem may lay within the ECM or unit in the TSX not FOB. what is the FCC# on your FOB? i recall a member have some very strange FOB problem like some function would not work and later discover dealer have him the wrong FOB. myself also discover that new TL's FOB bear the same FCC# but will not always, even with special programm sequences.
i hope they fix your program, be strong and demand a resonable service from Acura, with some many troubles, i would ask for a loaner and spology until they fix everything -- tell them this is a brand new car, and let them know there are ppl waiting to know how this was resolved.

Ya.. I think it's not the fob having problem because once they reprogrammed it, then it works like a charm. It worked perfectly as well when we picked it up. It's when it starts getting hot and humid here, then it stops working. Both fob... same time... same problem. So I guess it's something with the car instead. I don't know how the locking unit works with the alarm system... if they somehow link together, then maybe replace it will fix the problem...

I just called the Acura Customer Relationship headoffice and complained about the car. I told them that I can't trust driving this car even if they fix this for me 'cuz I won't know what next is going to come up... I told them everything from start to now and he said he'll contact the 2 dealerships to verify what I've told him and he's going to call me back either tomorrow or the day after (the service people are closed by now or close to be closed).

I told him that I want a new one to replace the one I have right now. We'll see...

Thanks for the info. I can't believe Erin Mills is THAT bad but good luck with your car and your dealings with Acura Customer Service. My 6MT w/ Nav has been flawless so far (touch wood) and it is just over 1 month old.

You are very welcome! Just don't want someone to fall into the same trouble as I had.

We might meet sometimes on the road as I work in Markham (404 + Hwy 7 area). If you see a white TSX with long hair chinese girl with glasses or sunglasses, that will be me!!!!... um... or maybe someone else... as I guess the above description applies to a lot of people...

I have had nothing but good experiences with Erin Mills.
They were super professional about fixing my burnt out center console lights, gave me a loaner, and had the job finished properly and on time.

I guess it gets much harder for just about any dealer to give out a satisfying answer when they have not a clue of what the problems is, much less how to resolve it.

I don't know... maybe my problems are ones that no one has ever experienced and they don't know the solutions to them. Maybe that's why I have been getting unacceptable type of answers and responses from them...

They told me that the locking control unit might be in Wed and will call me to confirm. It's 2PM and, yet, still no call from them.

I think you are right. However, this doesn't give them the excuse to return my car back to me all the time, without even testing things out, and just told me that 'It's working.'

Sure...I'll keep an eye out for you as I work and live in Markham too. Mine is also white but I do see a lot of them around though.

You're quite right about this.

It makes me think of my wife's Tercel: We have a problem with the hood's release cable. it's jammed. I've been trying for years to get it fixed: dealership and indepenedent shops, as many as you want. None have replaced it, even if I specifically requested for it. They all said, it doesn't need to be replaced, you can work the problem and save the part. But it always jams again a week later.

I guess that part must reall be a bitch to install that no one wants to do it.

Update...

Calling the Acura Customer Relation might be of some help or nothing... He called and found all issues as 'very small things' and he said that for the service part, I should call the dealership myself....

So I called the GM of the ErinMills Acura dealership myself ('cuz the Customer Relation guy already talked to the service manager). He politely got my information and told me I'll get a call back from them. 1 hour later, I got a call back from the service manager and she told me that the part that they ordered is not in the warehouse and it might be somewhere in CAN or US, if not, it will have to be shipped from overseas. They are getting me a loaner and may keep my car for 1 - 2 weeks...

Now... although I'm getting all these now... I'm scared that someone in the service dept be'cuz of all those complaints that I've made, they might try to screw up my car somewhere else while they get the alarm fixed... I asked if they can send the ordered part to the Markham dealership and they refused to do that and I could hear that the service manager wasn't happy when I said that. That get me more in a panic mode now.

I'm going to request a full inspection when I pick up the loaner tomorrow after they fix the alarm to guarantee all parts are fine for a period of time when they told me everything is fixed. If she does not agree to do that, I will not leave my car there and I'll go to the Markham dealership instead and leave the ErinMills dealership with the new part and no service request from me anymore.

It sounds like you're being a little paranoid IMO.

Service departments don't have an agenda to screw up customer's cars. They really aren't evil people.

If you feel that uncomfortable about going to Erin Mills, don't go. There's nothing they will be able to do to satisfy you. Just take it to Markham and be done with it.

Well, if they agree with a full inspection so that I can be sure that my car will not have problem within a month or so, that's fine and I'll be ok with it. With all these trouble and unsatisfying service from them, I dont' think I'm asking for too much at this point. If they even refuse to give me a free full inspection with all problems I've been getting with this car, I don't think they can satisfy me as you said and I'll definitely not leave my car with them.
