Exclamation Moisture in headlight but...

Dear TSX owners

Will the dealer fix or do anything about the headlight has moisture stuck?
I read couple articles written and posted in the past but,
I wasn't sure about the car with the warranty expired.

I assume alotta owners are having same problems with this.
Can this be a manufacturs' defect?
Something can be recalled?? (of course many owners don't want their vehicles recalled)

Hope to hear from other owners.

Thanks

If you are out of warranty, I think you are SOL.

If you are a little out of warranty, the dealer might do a "Good Will Replacment" or whatever they call it. If you are way over the warranty, buy a stolen variant off eBay .

that was quick!!!

if I take out the headlight and...blow dry... then rain-X inside the headlight...
will it prevent from future moisture gets stuck??

(My friend says "it will just be the same, after a car wash!!" )

I just went through this experience here...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28319

But mine is under warrenty.

I am confused though? If you have a TSX how can it be out of warrenty? Even a 2004 should still be under warrenty right? Isn't there a 4 year warrenty?

Next option would be eBay a headlight and swap it

Did you buy the car used? If so, from a dealer? If so on both, then ask them to replace it goodwill. They did for me in that situation.

If that won't work, you can try getting one from eBay w/o bulbs and then when it arrives, put a bead of clear silicone around the entire outside edge, then install it. Might work, might not.

Thanks

I really appreciate for all your messages.

I bought it from the Honda dealer, and they seem very honest and keep sending mails to check if I am satisfied. So, I will try call them and see if they respond.

The car has 52K miles...

I called Acura (head quarter I guess... 1800...) and filed a complaint(?) / request
about this 04 TSX headlight. They said they will contact me within 48 hours...
so... we'll see what they say as well....

about the ebay, I have been watching many items and they usually cost me
around $80 ~ 100 for each headlight (used). It's okay to pay that much, but
since they are used as well... it might happen again to the ebay's headlight too.
Basically... I guess all the 04's headlight has the same problem!!!
So... I would rather get something that's manufactured after 05...

Anyways, thanks for all your concerns!!!

Is the US bumper-to-bumper warranty 3 yrs / 50,000 miles? If so, being over by only 2,000 miles would make ME think that you're going to be OK and get it warrantied.

Reson being, it's only 2000 miles out of warranty (assuming 50K mile bumper-to-bumper), and any dealer looking to make you even somewhat of a return customer, will be willing to do it out of good will.

Mine did it for me at 73,000 km, which is 13,000 km beyond the bumper to bumper. They also did the shifting-drivers seat (new base req'd) but I did have to pay labour ($180) -- they paid for the new base (warrantied, but retails for over $800!).

Dealers are normally really good about things like this if they care about you returning in a few years to buy a new car, etc... I find what always works for me is I'll bring my wife along to the dealer and we look at the cars, making the dealers think we're interested in a 2nd car, thus, they bend over backwards for us.

Why not try calling the dealer first?

dealer

well...
I called the nearest Acura dealer first and they are recommending me to buy
a whole new headlight... they are suggesting approximately $500 including labor.

I would like to bring my car to the Honda dealer I bought from,
but now they are quite too far to travel because I moved town.

Hmm... So, I will wait and see what the Acura says...

Thanks again

CONCLUSION!!!

I called the HQ of the Acura, they said they will arrange womething with the dealer. I called the dealer and they ask me to just pay the labor.
(why? my warranty has expired 7K miles ago!)

Anyways, I am happier than ever, becasue it could have cost me around $100 for a used headlight plus installation.

Thanks for those who responded my questions!!

It is some random thing but mine occurred during a heavy rain storm. I actually had to have both headlights replaced on my 05.

If yu're out of warranty, you might try and reseal the light yourself witha ring of silicone around it. Using rainx wont do any good. It'll happen anyways and it doesn't stop the problem. The problem is a faulty seal.

Does anybody have this problem with ACCORD EURO R headlights?, because today i was hand washing my car and it seemed as if there was a little bit of condemsation building up but i went away in about 5 to 10 mintues. Where can i buy the silicone sealing material? Do the Acura dealerships have it?

I would certainly think so. You are under warrenty plus it is a known problem. You definately want to take it in and get them fixed if there is moisture on the inside.

It happened to me back in 2003 on my 04 TSX. See here...
