Hi,

would you guys tell me what kind of grease I use for the hinges and the black plastic bars on the doors please?

I have 100,200 miles on my car now. What else do I need to lube beside all the hinges?

I use a silicone spray on those about once every 2 months. Seems to do the trick. You can get something thicker but you'd ideally want it in a spray can w/ a straw, so you can get it in there well.

My Acura dealer uses a slightly-thicker silicone spray to do the checks and hinges, but I find that regular "Jig-A-Loo" or store-brand silicone works fine.

 

White Lithium Grease in the lock mechanism. Hinges are exposed a little more, so I would also agree on the spray silicone in there.

 

I have a can of silicone spray but it seems to me that it is some sort of alcohol. I spray it and then it disappears right away. That can of mine is for something else right?


The grease on the hinges and that black plastic bars seems to be some sort of very light colorless grease. They are not white in color. Should I wash that grease out before I spray some white grease to the hinges?

 

Don't forget to do the hinge on the gas cap door.......
