I'm at 6000 km, and i checked my engine oil this morning, and it is right below the lower dot

I ran it for a less than a min or so before checking. Could that affect it somehow?? i will check it again later tonite....

No, not with only a quart missing. But to be sure, just add in another quart of 5W30.

I'm sure it has been low for quite some time. Just add a qt - you'll be fine.

checked it again this morning before going to work, the oil is a tiny bit over the lower dot. I guess i'll add half a quart back just to be sure.

Thanks for the response

Just noticed that you checked it AFTER you started the engine always check the oil level with the engine cold.

yea, that make sense, because all the oil will be in the drain pan, rite?

but i believe the manual says to check the oil at the fill-up station.. meaning the engine will be warm. How does that make an accurate reading?

If you let it sit for a while the oil will drain back into the pan but not like the first thing in the morning. You just found out the diff between a reading before and after starting the engine.
