Know where to buy a Grounding Strip?

So I'm sure many of you have the same problem, but I can't stand getting shocked when I get out of my '04. I know it is simply static electricity using me to ground itself.

Does anyone know where to purchase an under body grounding strip for the TSX?

THX-

Hrm. I don't have this problem at all. I wear more a fair amount of nylon clothing, too. (I used to have this problem with ... either my old Sienna miniyacht, or my ex' RAV4.

Underbody grounding strip eh? Never heard of such a thing. You seem to be implying they exist for other vehicles. Care to elaborate on what it is and how it works?

I thing he is talking about the rubber piece that can drag along the road. I remember seeing them in J.C witney along time ago. I have never used one, but I have seen other cars with them.

Ah, that's what that's all about. I guess it kind of makes sense that ambulances always have them.

The only time I ever see grounding strips is on cars with curb feelers! Usually an elderly driver. They have those round extra mirrors on the side mirrors, curb feelers and grounding strips.

I'm just remembering what Peter did about this in Office Space.

Hey all. Yea, my neighbor owns a '08 Element and she has one put on. She stated that SOME AutoZone locations carry such a strip, and yes it is the rubber piece that drags underneath your car (you see them on almost every city bus). She says it works so we'll see......I'm not sure how costly these things are.

Cheers-

I can't imagine they're more than 3 or 4 thousand dollars.

:P

That's weird that your collecting that much of a charge from leather seats. I can understand the cloth one's. I used to just put my hand out and grab the door or roof before sliding out of the car. That way your grounded to the car and normally I didn't feel any shock.

When, exactly, are you getting shocked? When your feet touch the ground, or when you touch anything metal on the car? If the electrical potential is between you and the car, a "grounding strip" dragging on the ground won't do squat. It could be your clothing, or very dry skin.

If you can't fix it, use your knuckles to discharge static electricity--it's less jarring.
