Interior Light Question

Is there supposed to be a light inside the two storage areas (one that fits CD jewel cases, and the other for coins) in the center console?

My old 99 Passat had a light inside the coin storage area that would go on when you opened the cover. It was nice because you didn't have to turn the bright interior lights on when it was dark outside to find change.

I'm trying to figure out if there's a light there, because if there is, mine is busted.

Nope. Only a light in the CD area and then on underneath the radio stack.
