Idiling Problem

when my car is in D it has a vibration coming from under the car. I noticed when the car drops in RPM it does this, but why? I have comptech I/H/Catback/ is this why this is happening cause it wasnt doing it before. maybe the airflow is restricted by the stock catalyic but i dont want to put in a high flow cat if this problem is still going to happen

Does anyone else have this problem?

are you hearing any rattling? could it possibly be some bolts are a bit loose? did the vibration start occuring after installing the headers and/or exhaust?

Hello.

This is a bit off topic, however, I think it is interesting to mention it on this thread.

I have noticed that my car sometimes does not start. It did it twice last week and was hesitant this week once. I had the car in the garage and started it. I then backed out the car and parked it in the street for about 20 mins. When I got back in the car to start it and leave it didn't start. The key turned over and the car attempted to start, however, it did not start. I took the key out and waited about a minute then tried the process again. This time the car was very hesitant to start but when the car finally did turn over the engine showed very odd rpms. It almost seemed that the car was hesitant to rev at all.

I thought that this problem was from bad fuel, however, I have filled up twice since then and used premium like usual and just had the same problem this week.

Also along the line of engine revs. I was driving on the interstate yesterday and had the car on cruise control. It was crusing just fine but when I disengaged the cruise it seemed that the car would not downshift properly. The engine just seemed to stick in 3rd gear a bit too long.

Any ideas on this? Again, sorry if this post is on the wrong thread and sorry if I went on a bit with this but it seems like there is a problem.

Thanks for reading!

i think if you throw a bottle of fuel injector cleaner it will solve the problem, make sure you stink with premium gas. U probable have some water build up or deposits in ur injectors.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I think that I am going to do what you suggested and go with the fuel injector cleaner and then keep using the V-Power from Shell.

I hope the problem clears up soon.

my car does this as well, and it will be with the same thing. i'll park my car from garage to driveway and go inside, come out 20 mins later and it will be real hesitant to start. It only does this about, once every 2-4 months.
Also, i have a magnaflow exhaust and at low RPM's i have a rattle underneath my driver seat. it won't do it at high RPM's thow. I think it is deffinetly an exhaust vibration thru the bolts and screws. I don't think it could be anything bad at all

Here's what I did, and when swapping the DC header back to stock for repair, confirmed that the roughness is caused by header. It wasn't mentioned,
to me it only occurs only with AC compressor running.

I also have the starting thing occasionally, usually after a short stop like
into a store.

1) clean and regap spark plugs.

2) ground wire kit

Occasionally I get the rough idle when compressor turns on at idle,
but it was constant and severe before.

PM me if interested in more info. I have a patent pending must have tool
for removing and torquing spark plugs ideal for the TSX.

Angry

I have the same problem with the rattling. It’s a real pain in my ass. It doesn’t happen all the time when idling, but only happens when idling. I think the problem is that the aftermarket rear sway bars are only designed for the stock exhaust; aftermarket exhausts designed for stock sway bar. My shop told me that the Comptech rear sway bar rubs violently against the Greedy catback joints. My shop machined the catback but said they could only do so much and I’d have to contact Greedy with the prob. Until now I thought I was the only one with the problem. I don’t see how Greedy would do anything for the fix. Has anyone solved the problem with any other means??

Chris

Replace the Comptech rsb with a Progress bar might solve your problem. It did with my Tanabe.

an update to this thread, I have the idle problem and I took it to my dealer and they confirmed that my dc sports header is causing the rattle while the ac compressor is on

I'm going to get under the car sometime and see if I can figure out my own fix for the problem

nick

P.S. any comptech header people have rattle at idle while ac is on?

Found my prob. Dont have a picture but I found it when the car was raised for an allignment check. The custom RSB is about 4mm away from the custom exhaust joints.

BTW, those with a warm starting problem, upgrade your ground cables.

There are multiple threads about this I realize one big issue is when they installed my comptech header it pulled the whole cat and exhaust system about an inch closer to the headers..

Thus causing rattle problems with aftermarketsway and exhaust.
Solution fix the exhaust hangers(metal my mechanic banged the left cat hangers so it hangs a bit lower) , and replace all rubber hangers.
