Horrible noise from front wheel...HELP

Hey guys, so basically, I've been away from my car for about 2 weeks due to vacation and college orientation, and now because its broken...apparently...somehow. So I was driving it to pick up my girlfriend to go on a trip, everything was working fine. After I pulled out of her driveway I heard this horrible screech coming from my front left wheel!

Naturally I stopped the car, got out, looked.....nothing on the wheel or brake...nothing under the car either....nothing out of the ordinary. I got back in the car, started driving...same noise, at all speeds...same noise with the clutch in or out, in neutral and in gear. The noise is definitely coming from the front left wheel/brake.

Any ideas what it could be??

Are you sure its not just rust that built up on the brakes from sitting maybe if you drive it a little bit it will fade away.

xizor that sounds like it could be the case...is it safe to drive it like that over to the dealership so they can fix it??

pizzaman...I garaged it while I was gone so I doubt it's rust

Max, something similar happend to my TSX last summer. It was a terrible screeching noise comming from the same location and it turned out to be a pebble stuck in the brake. Perhaps thats the noise?

A small piece of rock lodged between the rotor and backing plate?

Yeah, Conor and JTso sound totally right because her street is under construction and has little pebbles everywhere...so if it's a pebble...what do I do? Just drive around till it wears down?

How many miles do you have on these brake pads? Are they the originals?

If that's the case, don't drive around like that. Remove the wheel and pull back slightly on the backing plate to release the pebble. Otherwise, the rotor will be scored badly and needs to be replaced.

I immediately took mine to the dealership and they removed it for me under warranty. Took about a half hour and the car was back to normal.

it could also be a bent backing plate, but that seems unlikely if your car was just sitting around.
