hollow sound/stereo lighting
hey guys,
The is my second post, and I guess since i am a new (used) TSX owner i am hypersensitive to every little noise or issue. What I have noticed is that when i close the front door, i guess the driver door especially when the windown is down, it makes a hollow sound compared to the rear door. is this something anyone else has noticed, and is it just a normal thing for tsxs?
i know i am nitpicking... don't want anyone to think that i dont absolutely love the car. how could i not? i am coming from an old beat up 2000 hyundai accent... the POS didnt even have a clock.
which brings me to another issue, all the digital stuff down the center (the clock, a/c radio etc) is dim or cant even see it. The dealer already ordered a new part to replace it. Is this a common malfunction? Should i be concerned that it may happen again? what info does anyone have to make sure they apply the correct remedy? I am not so concerned because my parents have had 3 acuras and the service at this dealer (sussman) is excellent, but I want to make sure I want to be well informed anyway.
Thanks!

I've noticed that when my front doors are shut hard (like when a window is open and theres no air cushion inside the car), there is a sheetmetal "pop" sound--almost like a minor dent is being popped out or something. I'm not sure what to make of it. Is that anything like what you're experiencing?

The door sound, it's been engineered that way.
As for the dim/dark module, there's been a TSB about this, and it looks like your service boys are doing their job alright.

I get that too. Funny thing is, it doesn't always happen. Sometimes the door would sound solid when I shut it, sometimes it would sound like sheet metal like you described.

It will only sound hollow if you have another door or moonroof or window open while shutting the door. If every other door is closed, all the windows and monnroof closed, it will be a nice silent sealed sounding close. Try it and you'll see what I mean. I too was paniking over this aswell when I first got the car, then noticed it only made the metallic noise when another window was slightly open or even if I closed the dooe before my passenger closed their door.

While the car does have a structure that is undoubtedly very rigid, the cheap metal "pop" when closing a door hard is not something you will find on any other cars costing $30,000. This isn't nit-picking. It is a bit surprising, that's all.
