Hit and Run.... F*ck!

I need to vent... Someone scratched my hood. 12 inches long, half and inch wide and down to the metal....

DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know how much it can cost to repaint a hood? I guess there will be some body work since the hood is a little caved in......

Yep... 50 minutes before exactly!

As for the picture, I won't have time to take any... I'm bringing the car to the dealer tomorrow morning. I don't want to see the car until it's fixed... Every time I looked at it, I become pissed...

Thank God it's just the hood.

Hood replacement shouldn't be more than a 1000, but certainly more than 500 painted, so expect to shell out a bit more than 5 benjamins.

5 Benjis is like $1500CDN. I hope the paint is cheaper in Canada...

Thanks for the input...

Depends on labor costs. Here in CA, it would cost over US$600 for sure.

Who said I was claiming... I don't plan to...

Now my question is: Can I give back a leased car with a CF hood?

I think you'd have a hard time to do that.

The costs of repair should go around 750$CDA . Good luck with it, and sorry about the hit & run. Yet another good reason to break legs.

You wouldn't claim a hit and run? I can understand if it was your fault, but this falls under comprehensive.

You probably can't give back the CF hood, but maybe someone would trade their stock one for the CF

comprehensive

This is a clear case of vandalism, so it should be covered by your insurance
comprehensive coverage. Usually comprehensive has a low deductible (mine is
$100) so you should be OK.

People are idiots. Messing with a man's car is something I could never understand.

You should tell your insurance agent, it's clearly vandalism and they won't hit you with higher premium.

Oh, yeah, don't tell them it was hit-and-run, they will get confused and will think you were in the car when it happened.. Same thing happend to me and Nationwide claims person got all confused and reported it as if it was a collision and got all mixed up.

Needless to say, I dropped nationwide right after this incident...

The problem with vandalism is that it still counts for a "Claim"! If you get 2-3 claims on the comprehensive section, you're still a higher risk (of claiming) for the insurance. Therefore the insurance rate may go up eventually...

I'm planning to buy a lotus Exige within the next 2 years. I don't want my insurance to cost a more than it should...

Thanks for the good words

The Exige is a hard top version of the Elise that's even more stripped. It's a full-on race car. Top Gear did an entertaining review of the Exige vs an Apache helicopter a year ago. I think the vid is on Sleepy Fish's website.

I haven't heard if the Exige will be coming to NA.

Learn something new everyday.

So is the Elise sold in Canada yet? Last I heard it didn't pass the 8km bumper standards?

I can't see Canada being a big enough market for Lotus to consider selling here. Why we don't have uniform car standards in NA is beyond me.

That's why I'm saying within the next 2 years... I guess if there's a chance for the Exige to come to Canada, it would be on year after its introduction in the states...

Below are some clips showing the Lotus Exige... The clips are from Top Gear in UK... Watch closely the car on the race track... It's FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST!!! It's powered by a Toyota Celica engine... I drove one in Rome (an Elise version)... The car is very very small.
