Sorry to hear that Rmatic. I just picked up the inspyre's from him on friday, just in time for another snow storm. Potholes are a menace in the Northeast.

what does the terrible sound sound like???

i hit a big ass pothole, and cracked my wheel bearing assembly...sounded like a friggin boat whenever i accelerated - it was really loud. at the time i thought my muffler was messed up, until i revved it at a standstill (no noise).

isolated to the rear left wheel, cost me $150 (got the part from acuraparts247.com) to replace.

friggin nyc - can't live without it, can't blow it up

A lot of people with RJ rims have been hitting pot holes.

Sucks. :|

Anyways, perhaps the noise is from the wheel bearing?

It might not be serious. Check the disc brake dust shield. Most likely it's bent against the rotor. You can probably just pull it back out.

Most definitely take it to a dealership. You let the weight of your car slam the disc onto the road. Hopefully the damage wasn't bad, but the dealership should be able to tell you. Even if they find that there's nothing wrong, just to get a realignment, its worth the money. And sorry about the RJs, you just purchased them too...so sad...

yea you live and learn i guess, changing the tire took FOREVER, i had to call a tow with a special jack, when the jack slipped from the ice, the sound, it was so horrible....

Do you guys know any prospective things that could be making that noise, damange/cost wise...in terms of severity?

Im such a careful driver, but these potholes are just insane, this thing musta been at least 8 inches deep, filled with water...as soon as i hit it, i knew i was getting a flat..

I think im going to take pictures today, show you guys the potholes, and then send them to the town and complain my little spoiled ass off.

Alignments are done quickly as oil changes. So you won't need a loaner for that, unless you're asking them to check many other stuff.

Make sure they don't make you wait 3 hours for it due to their "hectic" schedule though.

man, sorry to hear the news, but sounds like Physics just took over. I can offer you a discounted price for the replacment out of generousity, but I doubt getting into a car accident or hitting a nasty pothole is considered a warranty issue. a hairline fracture, or a crack without bending the actual wheel would be more along the lines of a structural defect which is a warranty issue. Also, you would be surprised what a good tire can do in regards to protection, My toyos are super strong and I have hit some crazy potholes in the 5 buroughs prompting me to pull over and inspect, resulting with a perfectly fine wheel and tire with the exception of a rubber scuff on the wheel where it was impacted... Those nankangs will look good when You purchase but I doubt they will provide you with decent quality.

Sorry to hear RMATIC
Keep us updated. You may want to get tires with a higher load rating for better protection.

Ok, back from shell, a local gas station, heres the synopsis , the Rim is rashed, but NOT that bad...so im just going to replace the tire. next off, the stock tires are on fine, and i found out the grinding issue, i cant really describe it, but something bent underneath the brake disk, the thing protecting it, so it was rubbing up....so he bent it back...

I will post pics in about 10 minutes, im still taking it to Rallye Acura

You could also get that rash resurfaced at a rim repair shop in your area for like under $150.

Ok, they bent back the dust shield, no rubbing anymore. It doesnt look straight like the others, but the mechanic said it was fine. I then took it to my dealership, to look at ailignment etc, he said i shoudlent even bother becuase its just gonna cost money, and he wont do anything.

So basically, everything is fine, now i need a new tire....

how did you bend the brake shield? and was the rim actually bent, or just curb rashed? did you scrape it along side something? looks too hard to diagnose what happened.

the jack slipped and the hub/brake shield fell onto the ground.

, the reason the rim rubbed up against the curb cause there was no tred on the tire, rashed pretty badly, i dont know how you can tell if it's bent though.

You would know if it was bent. You'd be able to see the bend (could be on the outside or the inside) and if you drove on it your steering wheel would be vibrating like crazy (unless you put the bent rim on the back)

You don't do it yourself, you have it done at a tire shop.
