Hi I got an automatic 2004 TSX about 10000 KM on it. I had notice since about 6000K when I press on the peddle to accelereate at speed greater than 100km/h I get this really high pitch whistling noise. The noise continue until I am driving less than 100km/h. I can't tell where it come from but it is drive me crazy. I don't think is a windows problem or stereo problem issue I seen on the forum because if I accelerate at less than 100km/h there is no such noise. Just wonder if anyone else have the same problem and if there a solution to this? I just need to know before bringing it in for service.

Thanks in advance

It's the engines characteristics. All K-series engines are like that--supposedly. (Do a search: High whirring noise)

its probably not how fast you are going, but how many RPMs you're doing. The whirring noise is the beautiful sounds of Honda engineering.

I was getting a high pitch whistling noise a day ago. It appeared to be constant at first then change a bit while driving. I turned off the Climate Control and it went away. It only happend to me once and now its quiet two days later so far. Play around with the climate control to make sure its not the AC or a vent making that sound.

I noticed this a while ago. when I'm going 70mph or faster and then just step on the gas any amount there seems to be a whistle coming from my passenger side vent nearest the door. The service department said they couldn't hear it because they aren't allowed to go over 55mph (legal speed limit around me). Its really annoying I've found and I have no idea how to fix it

high pitched noise
Hi - had to come in and share my story -- it's the transmission and you should have the dealer check it out. My dealer figured it out after I raised similar noises to them -- moonroof, windows, etc. This high pitched noise is NOT normal. They've now replaced my transmission, as well as one of the window motors, and one of the computers (?) ... It's back in again because the high-pitched noise is still not completely gone. I understand from the (helpful and seamingly) honest technician that another TSX was brought in with the same issue. Could be a bigger issue across ACURA/TSX model ... Let's hope not. Good luck!!

They replaced your transmission?

I've had the high pitched noise for quite a while now, (since 12k miles?) and I now have 16k miles and haven't had a single problem.

Keep us updated.

By the way, what exactly did the dealer point out to? What was causing the whirring whistling noise?

I bought my TSX last month and almost immediately I noticed the high pitched whistling noise. I have a six speed model and the noise only occurs when I shift into sixth gear and go over 70MPH's. I took it into the dealer last week and he did not even attempt to fix it. He told me it was inherent to the design of the car and to not worry about it. What an ass. I also had the water getting under the head light problem and he told me that he could replace the headlight cover but it might not fix the problem and I should just "keep an eye on it". What kind of service is that? I don't mess around though; I called Honda the next day and filed a complaint. They are researching the situation and the promise to get back to me by tomorrow. I'll keep you guys posted...Any further suggestions?

SO glad I found this site by the way.

WOW all these works and you don't sound pissed.
you don't belong on this forum man !

So first you sound pretty sure it's the tranny & they replaced your tranny but the noise is not gone.
I am confused - is it the tranny or not ???
Sounds like they performed the wrong "surgery" on your car.

I have tranny replaced too. Was yours one of the TSB#04-12 ?

Is the noise coming from the engine/front of the car, or toward the rear of the car? The reason I ask is that my car started making a high pitch noise after some time. I couldn't pinpoint the area it was coming from for some time. The whining got louder as i went faster. I brought some friends with me so listen to it while I drove and we finally figured out that it was coming from the rear. When I took it to the dealership, it was the rear right bearing that was bad. The guy at the dealership mentioned that they had seen some of these and that most people confuse it with transmission or engine noise. Anyway, hope that helps.

Did you only notice the noise when accelerating and in sixth gear? That's the only time i notice it. If I take my foot off the gas it goes away. Talked to Acura corporate today, I could tell the guy didn't research my issue until five minutes before he picked up the phone. After I urged him, he offered to call the Acura technicians and research my problem. Maybe i should just go to a good dealer in my area. Who knows.
