Steering wheel vibrations ... revisited

I have just over 1000 miles and I occasionally notice vibrating/rattling sounds coming from the steering wheel column.

Before someone yells, "do a search!", I already did and there is no definitive answer.

Anyway, as I was tapping my left middle finger against the back of the steering wheel (listening to Linkin Park), I noticed the plastic part [just beyond the steering wheel leather] was loose. I can feel at least one hole that I assume is for a screw ... perhaps to tighten that particular piece!?!?!

I will definitely take the car to the dealer, but I am rather wary. The last time (this past Friday), I was told that they could not estimate how long it would take and the loaners were booked to the end of the month. He actually showed me the schedule. [I think Acura has sold too many cars, if you ask me].

So I just ended up getting the car washed and paint sealed.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Nope, only if i slam on the brakes while turning... or get on a crappy road that will make the wheel "jerk"

I have around 1000 km and i noticed the steering wheel vibrates when i stepped on the brakes. This happen mostly during highway speed

i've searched and it seems a lot of owners are getting warped rotor at a very early age for the car...i'm gonna have that check out.... as well as the balancing of the wheels...

pby, it sounds like it may just be the backing of your steering wheel is loose. You should take the car in so that they can look at it. Even if they don't have a "loaner" they can usually get you a rental car for the duration of the repair, which in this case should be a quickie.

Thanks. I do hope it's just this part but the last I remember the sounds came from somewhere deeper in the steering column.

My vibrations only occur at a stop with my foot on the brake and the gear in D (5AT). I guess this is not reproducible with a 6-MT.
