Help repairing rear bumper.
Help repairing rear bumper.
I was backing out of my garage last week and didn't realize there was a car parked too close outside the garage.
To cut the story short, here's what happened to by car. Nothing happened to the other car since it had the side rubber molding.

After taking my car to several body shops to get quotes, the cheapest place, which surprisingly was at the dealer, was $400. I'm a D.I.Y. type of guy but I know painting is not my thing. Any suggestions on how to cut cost? I was thinking I could just take off the bumper myself and have the shop fix it then reinstall it myself.

The thing about taking ONLY the rear bumper to the shop to get it painted is the color may not match the rest of the car. I was considering the same thing, but the shop told me it's best to leave the car cause they could be match the part to the car.
I've been thinking about the blending and matching part
I don't think it matters that much. Cause when our cars were first put together, the bumper was painted during a different time. I've talked to a body shop guy, he said the paint might be slightly off, but that's normal.
The blending part is to make lots of extra money from you.

I also have about the same problem on my 06 CGP. I didnt know if I should start a new thread or not. My front bumper has a scratch from a rock being kicked up or something and I have a big scratch on the rear from one of the hinges on my garage door. Yeah I know... I'm an idiot.
Mine are more dug into the plastic tho. I was wondering if it can be smoothed out and painted or if I have to replace the bumpers.

Funny that this thread was started recently.
I got rear ended this morning on my way to work. It's not horrible, but there are two indentions from where his liscense plate frame tagged the rear bumper.
Anyone know what the cost is to replace the bumper? I'm gonna be nice and try to have the guy avoid using his insurance if possible.
