have a problem that needs many opinions (pics)

I recently got rear ended. F*cker didn't even slow down. Entirely his fault.
I'm going to get it evaluated with in the next couple of days but I'm genuinely concerned. My insurance (geico) seems to really want to see if they can get it repaired. I'd be really afraid to get into a my tsx after this =/
Here are the pictures.
Not a couple of this.
-I beleive the red circle on the first pic is chasis damage.
-The ripples are far worst on the opposite side. It was hit much worst than the side I was able to take pictures on. Notice the dropped muffler.
- Is it even safe to drive a car that's been totaled that bad.

So what do you guys think? Salvage or no?

Ouch, i'm sorry to see your car in such state. Yeah, probably it will be totaled. It pretty much looks like my previous car (an 06 civic).. I use geico also and the adjuster immediately said the damage is far too much to be repaired..

my 98 integra was involved in a similar accident a couple years ago and it was totalled, but the car was about 8 years old and had a little over 100,000 miles so it wasn't really worth much.

the adjuster will do an estimate of the damages and compare that to the value of your car. can't really tell if it will be a total loss or not.

There's a lot of damage there to be sure. Given that it's an 04/05 and there's definitely chasis damage I think they'll total it. That's a really bad ripple that you circled, and if it's worse on the other side, they'll never get it out. If it makes you feel any better I'm sure that the Altima (I'm guessing here) that hit you will be totaled, and they won't get squat for it from their insurance company.

Do NOT let Geico go the route of having it repaired. Geico is NOTORIOUS for taking cars w/ damage and trying to fix them if the damage estimate is $0.27 lower than the car's value. Geico and safety do not go together in the same sentence.

Demand that they total it out and reimburse you the vehicle's full market value.

Sorry about the accident. Since this is the other's driver's fault go after his insurance co. Your insurance co. should not be involved in the decision unless his insurance fights it.

At least you're all right, TaSex. for the safety of this car.

Don't worry, if it can be repaired and Geico pays for it to be done at a first rate shop, you'll be safe driving in it again. The pain of seeing your steed with broken legs will pass.... ("Time heals all wounds" and all that.) Question is ... will they?

Any liens on it, or do you own it outright?

any tips on how to get them to do that. The adjuster pushed the date back even more. My chasis is crumpled and they are trying to fix it >.<

just have to fight them. Tell them you don't feel safe after seeing the damage. Get a lawyer if you have too. Geico sucks!!

you can get your own adjuster, say go to a shop of your choice, that has nothing to do with Geico and ask them for the estimate/opinion. If they think it's a total loss then you ask them to write it up and show it to Geico. The bottom line is if Geico can fix it then they have to pay for the repair at the shop of your CHOICE. Sometimes if the damage is too much for repair then they will cut you a check for the total loss than paying the shop more to fix it. Whatever happens you just have to get an INDEPENDENt opinion, not those from Geico's. I know this from personal experience dealing with Geico and having my car rear-ended just like your car. I'm still dealing with Geico through my lawyer. Just stick with it. Accident sucks but you just have to work through it. You are gonna on the phone all day dealing with the insurance company. It's just a part of the process but you are in it so just do what is right for yourself. Good luck. Keep all the receipt of everything to get reimbursed later on. Everything is negotiable.

Thank you soo much for the advice! I did something very close to that. I had a family friend who was a mechanic quote pretty high for the repair and I told geico that I would only want my repairs done there. I now i have a 15k check in the mail. I hope in comes soon =)

The sad part however, is that my next car wont be an Acura. The New ones are too expensive and a I want to get somethign other than a TSX.

Case closed

The new ones have several known problems posted on this board, I wouldn't take a 2009 TSX if you gave it to me.

Well,... if it had NAVI....

... I had a family friend who was a mechanic quote pretty high for the repair ....
Hopefully getting a "friend" to provide a quote isn't prohibited by any state laws where you live.

I dont know if I would be broadcasting this information, that could be considered insurance fraud. Just an fyi.
