It happened! Earlier than expected. Help!
It happened! Earlier than expected. Help!
So I received a door ding within a month of owning the car, which was somewhat expected. Luckily it was a small one and did not break the paint. I figure one day I'll get one of the dent wizard type places to remove it for $50..
However, this morning I wake up to notice a chunk of paint out of my driver side door. The damage lines up perfectly to my neighbors car (there is assigned parking for this apt complex).
I'm debating how to be neighborly and still handle the situation in a satisfactory method.
So I have a couple questions.
1) How much does a body shop generally charge to do a quality touch up job? I dont trust myself to do a job I would be satisfied with.
2) I assume this has probably happened to others in the past. Do you have any recommendations on how to handle these situations in a neighborly fashion?
Thanks!

I was at school and this chick who parked across from my baby didn't know how to park a stick shift. She didn't click her brake all the way and she put the car in N instead of in gear. It rolled into the back bumper of my new baby.

Most of the bumper popped back out but there is a spot where the paint rubbed off the bumper and the black is showing.
Any ideas on how much for a repaint of the bumper?
Remember way back when I got my car scratched on the back bumper on day 2 of ownership? I was not happy.
Turns out to replace a paint scratch is going to cost me $400CDN ($300 US)
Thankfully, paint pens are around $10.

Seriously though, just ask your neighbor to come outside and take a look at it. If they're responsible in the least, they should understand your situation. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me. Only most of the dammage was to my oem ground effect. A quality car shop that would warrenty the work for the life of the car charged the insurance company $665.00.
I was nailed by a high velocity pebble as a GMC Jimmy flew by me on a road under "improvement". Two weeks in and I had a BB size ding on my passenger door. As soon as it hit me, I had the "DOH!!!" reaction and feared what I'd see when I got out of the car. Luckily the ding is only visible from a sharp angle and if I didn't know it was there, I'd probably never notice.
Not a scratch since then!

I got this HORRIBLE paint chip in my new RX8
Right on the hood, where it is visible.
So I got myself some filler and some sandpaper and the touch-up paint. I've been at it for 3-4 days now sanding and smoothing and letting the paint dry and adding another coat etc. Finally I got the pain to match up, I have to sand it down smooth again or it will be visible.
I didn't even bother to find out how much a shop would charge, from the postings here I would guess a few hundred
I think I did good job, more sanding and such I could do better, this is my first try ever at this.
You can see pics here.
