Gas Pedal Feels Loose

I have YET another question - this is in regards to the gas pedal. I noticed that the pedal itself is bolted onto the floor and connected to a metal rod. But for some reason, sometimes I feel the pedal slightly shifting back and forth from the ground. So when I had a chance, I reached down there to try to mimic the shifting and found that I can move the pedal left to right (sort of like a loose tooth). I also noticed that when I floor the pedal (with the engine off) and let go real quick, the pedal springs back into place with a rattle. Is this normal? Does anybody have this problem? This has never been a problem with the CRV I used to drive, granted the pedal has a different design.

I know that I've been posting a lot of stupid questions lately, but I just can't find anything about this from the search function. This is my first car (the first one that I brought myself). The only thing that can quelch my constant paranoia is some reassurance from other owners. Regardless, this is a great car and I'm very happy with it. Thanks.

It shifts a little by design. The bottom of the pedal is hinged to the floor and top is where it actually makes contact with the rod. The top of the pedal mounting moves/rotates over the rod on a sliding sleeve. It's done to have smooth pedal feel.

Yeah ive noticed my pedals make a little noise now and again, dont worry about it..

You know though i never thought of this before, if its a drive by wire if you have the engine off and you press the gas i bet it just doesnt do anything... (thinking back to the old days where on some cars you would have to pump the gas once or twice to start)
