Garbage for mileage?
Wow...some of you guys need to learn to drive...How many of those people complaining of poor mileage have actually read Sauceman's thread on driving for good fuel economy?
im a student and i drive mostly local. from home, school, library, mall, etc. many lights and stops in my area. i drive somewhat slower than traffic(my average casual driving)lol and i get like 16.9-17.4mpg. really does bother me because i dont work or anything and i dont have much cash laying around.

but honestly, i don't drive that terirbly, i rev to like 2.5 on starts? but sometimes i have urges to floor it, even when i do drive like a grandma, there doesn't seem to be a difference?

huh? It's all practical. I seriously am doubting that you have read it at all.
By the way, I am on 2500 rpm most of the time. Only once a day I go like 3500 rpm. Please do not tell me that this one incident will cause this problem. And don't say I have a lead foot because I know I don't. I'll sure enough that I am driving like an average Joe. If you don't believe me, I would love to sit in your car or you could sit in my car and show me how to drive. No offense to anyone! I'm just frustrated with this crappy gas mileage.

but I will coast most the way, often not even stepping n the gas, just releasing the brake and the car rolls forward. In this type if traffic I get 21-22 mpg. Just today I took it on a 60 mile round trip on the highway and got 33 mpg. No traffic and I was averaging about 70.

When I drive to and from work I can be in stop and go traffic, sometimes going through 3-4 light cycles just to get through one intersection...

Coasting is the key to good mileage in the city -- it's almost "free" mileage (you can easily exceed 100 mpg during the time you are coasting) that can offset heavier throttle use at other times.
Think about using your brake pedal as literally throwing $$ in fuel costs out the window. (Of course, it's not the braking that eats $$, it's the gas you were using to haul ass just before braking
)
Of course you have to use the brakes, but coasting down to a stop light or stop sign will save you much in fuel costs versus having to use your brakes over the same distance.

I have a 2007 AT with 3000 miles and the mileage is total shit. I got better mileage with my 04 g35 6MT and it had 100 more horsepower!!! I thought Acura/Honda was supposed to be good stuff, but I'm finding out that they're junk. I didn't have to pay extra for the creaks and rattles either. Just close your car door a little too hard and listed to how thin the door skin is... el cheapo!

that's about half of what it should be.
I just spent an hour looking all over the internet, and this seems to be a rare problem with some new Hondas; especially Odysseys, Accords, and TSXs.
do you have an AT or 6MT?
[QUOTE=visuelz]I bought mine from DCH Montclair Acura. What about you?
i got mine from Paragon, my friends tell me the service is crap but i haven't had any problems yet... knock on wood, but i've only brought it in for 1 service on the door seals..
this shitty mileage is so discouraging =[ it's a tank per week and i don't go anywhere too far..

We still haven't got a clear answer from you guys with the crappy mileage:
1. Did you do the highway experiment?(driving at 55-60mph for more than 10 minutes) What was the best, worst and average mpg showing on your MID?
2. When you take your car to the dealer and complain about the mpg, what is their response? I know one of you has a CAI and that's the dealer's excuse(bullshit). What about the others?
Why can't you guys take this more seriously and complain to Acura?
I don't know. If my car was getting half the advertised MPG while I was driving normally and the company refused to address the issue, I would simply leave my car at the dealership and file a lawsuit against the corporate and stop making payments on it.

That's absolute crap. I wouldn't live with that kind of gas economy for 2 days. What action have you taken so far?
If I had taken the same trip I would've gotten at least 33mpg from my TSX. If I were a bit carefull, 35mpg would be very achievable.
Take it to the dealer and complain. Unless the whole trip was steep uphill, I would go nuts about this.

If you're cruising but you've got your foot in the throttle a little too much, you are just wasting gas.
Just to take that variable out of the equation, next time you're just cruising, set the cruise control and let it maintain a consistent speed. If you are still getting poor mileage, then it actually is a problem with the car. If you get good mileage, then the problem is with your driving.

(Just trying to rule out that the trip computer is the problem, sorry if it's an obvious question and you've already ruled this out).
I'll take it on the highway sometime this week for the test and will keep you guys updated. I don't have anything that tells me how many miles per gallon im getting so I have to do it manually. So i'll fill it up before going.
I was thinking about calling the corporate office but then I think they will ask me for my VIN number and then ill have to tell them I have an intake. They would probably yell at me lol. Anyway around this?

Dude you've spent countless number of hours discussing this here and on the other forum, but you refuse to simply take out your intake and put the stock one back just so the dealer doesn't have an excuse. I know the dealer's excuse is stupid, but when you mod your car, you're taking the risk of service refusal. Thank God the only thing they're complaining about is the intake. Just take the god damn thing out and dump your car at the dealer and refuse to leave until they diagnose your car.
That could save you thousands of dollars in gas money and repair bills when your warranty runs out.

That's where I am after 2,000 miles. I could barely manage 20mpg and sometimes it was below 20mpg for the first 5 tanks of gas. Now I can get more than 30mpg if I go about 5mph over the speed limit, coast to a stop at approaching red lights and keep the rev's below 4000 when accelerating.
But it's really really hard to get 30mpg in a TSX when the Ford Excursion in front of you is trying to do the same thing. And there are more and more of these super slow SUV's on the road these days because of the $3+ gas prices. They drive below the speed limit and also don't accelerate from a stop light at a reasonable pace. So for the sake of my sanity, I find myself exercising the engine to get around them, and my economy suffers.

i live in forest hills queens, sure why not i'm actually heading to the dealer tommorow to fix some cosmetic problems .. the seal on the door is all twisted??? but yeah i'll ask them if they've had this problme before and i'll fill you in on how it goes.

If you did this over a much greater distance your error would go down. But you almost certainly couldn't be off by %30 percent. Have you checked your air filter, O2 sensor, searched for leaks in vacuum lines?
well i'm actually still working on that.. i have about 1/4 tank left with about 158 miles... so i'm hoping i can break 200 with this tank
but maybe not =\
oh yeah question guys, do we have a reserve fuel tank? when my fuel light comes on and it says i have like 8 miles left, i fill up and its only about 14 gallons.. i thought our fuel tanks were 17 gallons...
