Front bumper - how to fix
Front bumper - how to fix
I crashed into a small truck's rear bumper in an intersection today, due to the snow. The impact is not very hard, the front bumper of my TSX didn't show any damage, not even scratch. However, maybe the trailer mounting point of the truck went into the opening under the front bumper of my car, we found a few pieces of black foam/plastic on the ground. Here is the photo: http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/5305/1004658q.jpg
The part number on the rectangular box indicates that it is 017 71172-SEC-A00 BOX, FR. BUMPER BEAM from http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no
But I have not identified the long piece that has broken into pieces yet.
My question is how important the broken parts are. Do I need to replace them? How much will it cost roughly to have the front bumper or the broken parts inspected and replace?

That "foam" looks like the absorber (#16). This is designed to do exactly what it did in a low speed bumper collision. It absorbs the force of the impact instead of transferring it into the bumper beam and into the frame after splitting your bumper cover. You should definitely replace this in case you find yourself in another low speed impact and cause more serious and costly damage.
