Flooded 2006 Acura tsx

I am thinking about buying a flooded TSX. It's 2006. I would have to repair it myself. It was flooded up to the doorstep. everything seems to be working fine on it, just that it smells a bit from the flooding. It wasn't salt water. I have had flooded cars in the past and i know how to repair the carpet and all. I was just wondering if any of you guys have had any similar encounters and was it hard to fix it? Was it hard to take out the carpeting and put back in, and did you actually get the smell out or does it still smell a bit. Also did you have any electrical problems with it later? Thanks.

Unless you're very experienced w/ salvage of a flooded car, I would stay away. Just a bit of water damage to dash panel and PCM would cause lots of problems and major bucks to repair.

Also consider who's selling. If they salvage cars and want to get rid of it, what does that say about the car?

good luck

I believe the ECU is in the floorboard - a problem waiting to happen.

This is true, it's under the carpet on the passenger side rear I think. And though I'm not sure what you mean by "the doorstep", my assumption would that it (the ECU) at least got wet, if not submerged. Plus, does it have a salvage title? Might have trouble insuring it if so.

first says, experience with flooded cars.

ALL cars are pretty much designed the same way.
remove seats, remove seat tracks, remove carpet.
underneath all of that is wiring and ECU and other electronics....

p.s.s. all situations are different.

one flooded car will be different than the other in regards to damage.

its like anything else in life.
test, test, test, if all good, go!

test, test, test, if no good, dont go.

Different cars have different carpeting clips and some cars have wiring under the carpets some don't. I havent dealt with an Acura before so i was looking for some help. But clearly you aren't much help..
