Ext. trunk switch not working

The exterior trunk relase switch on my 2006 TSX is not working (again). Pushing it does not open the trunk. It is not disabled with the master switch in the glove box. When the dealer fixed this before the service receipt says the MASTER RESET ON MICU. ALL SWITCHES WORK. Then when I picked the car up the service adivser grumbled about having an after market stereo and how that could have been the problem. I have 2 questions.

1. Any idea what the MASTER RESET ON MICU is and can I do this myself.
2. Does anybody else think it's BS that the stereo could disable that switch.

Thanks

the master RESET on MICU, is a very small switch in the glove box, just open the glove box and i think its a small switch on the left upper side inside the glove, change it to the oppositie position and try opening the trunk... good luck

Unfortunately not, I tried that switch back and forth with no luck.
Thanks though.

You don't have the trunk locked with the key lock on the right side of the front seat on the floor?

You might check to make sure that each of the four doors are unlocking with the power door locks/keyless. As I recall the multiplex can be fooled into thinking the doors are locked if one of the door lock actuators is dead. Otherwise you can put a meter across the trunk lid button to make sure it's working and if so, I'd guess a bad MICU/fusebox.

the MICU is above the fusebox on the driver's side footwell, not sure where that reset switch is though. who uses the button on the trunk anyways?

The MICU (multiplex control unit) is internal in the under dash fuse box. There is no reset switch. I suppose you could "reset" it by disconnecting both battery cables and shorting them together (which effectively drains all capacitors in every control unit in the car) but I doubt that will solve your problem.

And I use the trunk button all the time.

I have the same problem, outside trunk latch doesn't work. Dealer ordered a new latch unit or something and is just gonna replace everything as a warranty issue.
