Exhaust Loud - Silencer?

As of the last couple months, my exhaust has gotten louder for some reason. Have a stock exhaust, nothing extra.

Took the car to a local shop here and they cant find anything, no holes, no nothing and they say the car sounds fine.

Obviously since I drive it everyday, can tell when it gets louder.

Are there muffler silencers in these cars? I would hate to take the tailpipe apart without asking first. Was hoping it would be something where I could just switch the silencer out.

Any help or info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Could be the flex pipe going bad. Its almost underneath your feet so you'd hear it pretty well when it goes bad. In my old hyundai the flex pipe broke, sounded like i was running a straight pipe from hell

There are no silencers in the mufflers. I don't know what taking apart the tips will accomplish.

IMO it could be just the baffles in the muffler. Over time, they tend to give way. The baffles are like internal walls in the muffler and the air is forced around the walls in older to exit the tail. This action decreases the noise factor. When the baffles go it essentially turns into a hollowed out muffler. Pretty much a straight through design. So if the exhaust doesn't have a leak and you have noticed its a bit louder then when you first had it, that may be the issue.

An exhaust leak is quite noticeable. So if that's whats actually happening and the mechanics cant figure it out, you should find another shop. lol

hope that help's.

Thanks for the responses. Im going to take it in to someone else as well. The first guy basically said just like the post, it may be the baffles inside the muffler, even though those rarely go bad. We shall see I guess.
