Error Code: P0135 02 Heater Circuit Malf

Error Code: P0135 02 Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

Getting this error. Can anyone tell me how hard the 02 sensor is to change? and roughly how much it might cost doing it myself or through a dealer/mechanic?

Thanks

O2 is easy to change. Just need the special socket or thread a box end down the wire.

Depending if it the Primary or Secondary, you may need to unplug the secondary from the front edge of the passenger seat, under the carpet and feed it down through the grommet or the primiary just unclips from within the engine bay area.

Installation, just be careful putting it in as the tip is fairly delicate.

Check your emissions warranty interval, the system may still be covered by Acura. Here in the states, the emission interval is well beyond the 4 year/50,000 mile general warranty.

Its the primary and its not covered under warranty. Just called the dealer and they want $500+ taxes for the part and install or $33x just for the part. Called Honda, as its the same part? and they want $266.

Looked in the engine bay with a couple of others and couldn't find where it is? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

There is one at the base of the Header and one in the center of the cat.

If you need pic, check out my cardomain page... of course mine will show you the RT cat and CT Header. But I have a pick of the old and new and you'll see the bungs there.

Thanks Pacman. I don't think thats something you can see from on top, simply by popping open the hood. But seems easy enough to change by going under.

Ordered the part, should be in on Tuesday.

The electrical plug is easier to get to from the top. On the bottom, the O2 plug may be tough to unscrew, so use a rubber mallet with your wrench.

I am getting both P2A00 and P0135 Error Codes. Are one of the codes just a redundant code for the same sensor? I am assuming it is the same Sensor 1 which is located in the J-pipe.

I have attached a copy of the code results when I got it check at Autozone for free. Acura said they wanted $150 to just check the error codes...

Follow up, I called the dealership and they wanted $513 to replace the sensor...

I am probably going to do this myself and get the sensor online. Anyone have any issues dealing with either of these sites? If you know of others with good pricing let me know...

If you can digest getting an aftermarket sensor, I have had VERY good luck with SNG Sensors. They make a number of OEM sensors and their customer support was very good.

According to their site, you need SN4-386 for the front (before-catalyst) sensor. It's a direct fit, no splicing required.

I had the P2A00 code before and indeed it was the primary (front / before-catalyst) sensor. I unfortunately paid retail less 15% from a friend who worke for Honda, but could have had an aftermarket replacement for a lot cheaper!
