Hi, I've recently noticed that my engine is making a clicking/ticking noise when idling. I can only hear it when the hood is up, but when it is its pretty noticable. It sounds like its coming from right under the engine cover.

Is this normal or should I go and get it checked?

I hear the clicking noise as well when idling even after the engine has warmed up. I'm not too concerned though.

 

it's the injectors working away, nothing to worry about

 

Every Honda 4 cyl I have ever known makes this noise.

 

thread revival.....i have recently noticed a similar clicking or ticking noise coming from my engine. It's NOT the normal Honda/Acura engine sound. This is my third 4 cyl honda, and I know what the engine sounds like. It is not something that comes and goes with RPM's, it's something i hear whenever the engine is on. Any input?

 

It's either injectors, valves, or timing chain.

i bet it's your A/C that's on, and the compressor that you're hearing.

Its not a problem its a normal thing.

 

my clicking is to a point, i kinda feel it in the shift knob (i have AT)

 

likely the injectors. mine was making really loud ticking during the summer so I brought it in to get it checked out b/c I was worried it was a bent valve. they used the stethoscope and said it was the injectors, and its normal. its either gone away or I just got used to it. no one who's rode in my car has heard the noise except me

 

i was kinda pushing my car earlier today and i hit maybe like 6000 rpms and 80mph? and when i came to a stop i noticed the rattling coming from my engine and i got kinda scared.. should i be worried? input please

 

i have the same ticking also. my integra also had this same problem. nothing to worry about.
