DTC code P0718: Mainshaft speed sensor (intermittent failure)

Sup all,

Trying to see if anyone has had this fault code come up?

This code has come up now 3 times in the last 6 months...I've cleared it the past 2 times but now it looks like I should take a look into this...

Anyone have any idea where this sensor is located?

Any help would be appreciated

Mainshaft speed sensor is mounted into the trans case, at the left/rear of the transmission.

jmathew34:

How many miles does your TSX have?

When this problem came up, is it a flashing or solid light that lights up in the dashboard?

issue started for me probably with around 90-100k on the car. I currently have little over 131k on the car. The VSA light comes on, the D in the gear selection area of the gauge cluster flashes and your check engine light comes on...DTC code P0718 is what I got when I retrieved the error code...

When the speed sensor goes bad, the miles that your odometer registers will be inaccurate right?

I think having an incaccurate odometer to measure the miles traveled is the only consequence of having a bad speed sensor right?

Does anyone know if there are there any other problems that can arise from a bad speed sensor? I don't think it will damage the transmission.
