drove through standing water, a/c stopped working
We had heavy rain overnight, and this morning some of the streets were flooded. Unfortunately, I went through this intersection where the water was about up to the bottom of the doors. The car didn't stall, but the a/c stopped working. The fan still blows, but the air coming out is not cool. This made it difficult to keep the windows from fogging up. If I let the car sit and dry out, should it start working again, or is this likely to require a repair?
I guess I should have tried harder to avoid the intersection but it was a one-way street, and other cars were going through.

Alright, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will come back on its own. I hope they don't give me a hard time about driving through the standing water if I have to take it in.

FYI- My mom drove our Volvo through a flooded intersection, and it was the beginning of the end of that car (it did stall though, unlike yours). If anything unexpectedly breaks in the near future, ditch it. It was a cascade of electronic failures from then on.

Well, I guess first I need to clean off all of the leaves that are stuck to the radiator. That would probably be a dead give-away that it's been in more water than it's supposed to be. It really sucks too, because I just took it in for the 5,000 mile service yesterday!
I'm surprised that people don't seem to mind driving through flooded intersections, considering the possible damage it could do to their cars.

Luckily, I had the bright idea of checking the fusebox before bringing this in. It turned out that the compressor fan fuse was blown. When I swapped in a spare fuse, the a/c started working again. My guess is that when the water got into the compressor fan, it overloaded the circuit, causing the fuse to blow. Hopefully there was no other damage. So I guess I won't have to take this in after all.

It wasn't quite that easy. I was on a one-way street. There was traffic behind me. The only option was to stop and try and back up onto a busy road, which was itself somewhat flooded. But you're darn right that I will try harder to avoid it next time.

to just either pull over or turn round.
Any option other than being compelled to take your TSX
swimming in that shiet pool.
Personally NO WAY i'd go thru that unless some cop pull a gun on me or something.
