Driver's door lock sticking....

My driver's door lock knob doesn't work anymore when I use the power lock feature or when I lock/unlock with the remote. I always have to manually pull up/push down on the lock whenever I'm in the car and then use the key to lock/unlock from the outside. I have noticed that sometimes it will get stuck halfway when I use the power locking, and then other times it will work fine. It is sticking more often now and I was wondering if there's a way to clean/adjust the lock mechanism so it will function normally. Or else how do I remove the lock knob/pin to see if it is in fact the problem or perhaps something deeper in the door panel?

Does anyone have a DIY fix rather than taking it to the dealer?

I had the same problem with my car but it was the passenger side door lock. Sorry i dont have a DIY solution for you. I took it to the dealership and they fixed it for free under warranty. The invoice said they had to replace the actuator for the door lock.

Its your actuator for sure and needs to be replaced. If your under warranty I would just take it to the dealer since it would be free. I forget the price of the part but its over $50 if I remember correctly. BTW there is a diy somewhere here in Azine.

I had problem with my passenger side door (about 1500 miles out of warranty). Now I'm about 8000 out and my driver's side door is having the same issue. The worst part is that none of the locks work via Keyless for unlocking.

Fix at the dealer was ~$175 (Parts and Labor), quite a rip-off. Car seems to be falling apart now that it is out of warranty. A/C went down too.

Did you get the driver's side door lock fixed on your car? My passenger side actuator went out under warranty, and the dealer fixed it. Now I'm out of warranty and the driver's side actuator is dead. The dealership doesn't want to fix it, and that makes me unhappy, so I opened a case through Acura Client Services. If enough of us call, perhaps they'll do a recall...!!!

I called the phone number for Client Services that I found after hunting around on Acura.com. I spoke to a representative who informed me that opening a case and assigning it to a Case Manager for consideration for a courtesy repair requires my obtaining a diagnosis of the problem from my Acura dealership. Of course, there's a charge for that, and it costs me my time - time that could be spend actually getting the lock repaired instead of waiting for the dealership to "diagnose" the problem, which I know to be the actuator since this has happened to me before! Now, I get why this policy is in place, but I can also see the writing on the wall and have decided to just pay for my mechanic (not the Aucra dealership) to replace the actuator.

^^ I see, I would at least buy the part online from an Acura dealership for a discounted price. My driver side lock has actually stopped sticking and is working fine for now. I'm thinking it will eventually fail though. At least I'm good for now!

I just noticed that my driver's door doesn't lock when I use the remote and I have to use the key to lock it (the lights are not blinking when I try to lock it). However, it does unlock with the remote. Is it a common problem?

I'm beginning to worry about the car... it's an 04, I already had the center console replaced due to lights being out, just noticed that the seat heater lights are out too, door is not locking anymore... I wonder what's next.

Sounds like the door lock actuator is going. It seems to be a problem with us 04 owners. I paid mid-$200 to get this replaced/repaired (out of warranty).
Oh, and what's next? Hopefully your A/C is well.

I can't believe the dealer charges $200+ for this fix. Maybe I should start advertising this repair at my place for $130 or so. Doing 8 or so of this repair will get me enough $$$ for the Quaife LSD I've always wanted.

Sorry, I don't have a DIY since I did the repair as I went. I didn't take any photos along the way. However, if you have a Helm manual, it'll help.

Is this just a simple swap of a part? I don't have a Helm's manual and was just going to wing it though. How difficult do you think it is?
