door lock squeal

every once in a while, when I drive home and I press the unlock button the drivers door before getting out, the doors will unlock. but immediately afterwards there will be a slight squealing sound that will last about 1-2 seconds.

the sound is almost like the door lock uses compressed air to unlock. And once you unlock the door it releases the air that it used to unlock the door. similar to a blow off valve on a turbo'd car.

I know that can't be right, but I have about 6 months left on the warranty, but it's not always happening so the dealer will more than likely say they can't do anything.

is this a common noise? does it mean the door lock actuator is going bad?

I think it's the drivers door. that or the rear drivers side door. when it happens it is very distinctly in my left ear.

Yea, the door lock actuator has been a problem in our cars. It effects mostly the driver's or front passenger's side. The actuator is cheap, but the cost of labor is what hurts.
