i have a 04 tsx manual

i just started having the problem. at first i thought it was because of the cold weather and its causing the lock to stick. but then it started happening more until i come back to my car one day and notice that the car didnt lock so that of course scared the crap outta me cause i just recently had my integra stolen. i then realized that my driver side wasnt locking at all. its a major piss off after reading all these posts knowing that all these tsxs are having the same problems. im hoping the warrenty still covers this cause im really not looking forward to paying that kinda money just to fix something as small as this. cant be locking the door and triple checking just to see if its been locked.

If you want to save some money, it's not terribly difficult to do yourself.

jeebus, can we please get a recall on these?

it's bad enough that so many of us have this problem. but it's even worse because this has happened multiple times for a lot of us.

i'm currently dealing with my 3rd failed actuator. i had the driver and passenger front doors replaced under warranty. now that i'm out of warranty, the passenger front is not working anymore. :thumbsdow

i called 3 acura service departments, and the lowest price including part was $205 plus tax.

for houstonians:
sterling mccall: $205 plus tax
john eagle: $283 plus tax (wtf?)
gillman: $219 plus tax

i read through this entire thread and saw it can be done DIY. i dunno if i want to risk it since i'm a noob with car parts.

i called a trusted shop, and they can do it for $132, and i'll order the part myself. so after buying the part, it'll cost me, what, $150ish?

is a loaner car worth the $50 difference if i get it done at the dealer?

My driver side door had the same problem 3 months ago. Good that I was still under warranty. Dealer fixed it.

Tack me on the list too, fawk!!! Driver's side front door. I'm gonna try bitchin' to the dealer to do it for free since I'm only about 1.5 month out of warranty, before I take care of it myself. The night light on my passenger seat heater switch also went out so there's another thing I'll probably have to take care of also.

SWEET Dealer is going to take care of the actuator tomorrow , now all I have to do is just replace the seat heater switch.

His link's down now on Facebook. Mine started working again a day or two after I initially posted, but this weekend it finally decided to completely die.

DJPinoy, any chance you can post up those photos again?

Thanks.

FYI, it's a small blue bulb that gets replaced,$4 I think was the price. Thank god, didn't have to replace the entire switch.

I just finished replacing the drivers side front actuator. Thanks to the instructions in this thread, it took only a little over an hour to finish with everything.

The only thing that went wrong: I broke two of the plastic pieces on the door panel that hold the panel clips. I should have bought a door panel remover instead of yanking on the panel

I found the DIY after i listed the question...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...k+Actuator+DIY

Worked very good, there were a couple extra things in there to do, but nothing major. Took it out and replaced it in about 2 hours.

I would definitely recommend doing this yourself rather than paying $250 bucks.

Well just happened to me as well today. '04 6MT with 39K miles. Bought it used in Nov08 and first the alignment issue which cant really be fixed and now this... The little things about this car are quite annoying.

Anyways, going to order the part online and do the work on my day off Friday.

I just made an appointment tomorrow, but not at the Stealer, but a trusted garage. They quoted me $36 for the part and $85 for the labor.

I avoid the stealer anytime I can. Oh, and they said it was no problem to get the part.

Thanks for all the info.

Hi all,

djpinoy here - I posted the original link to the instructions on facebook, but I didn't realize that these links expire Here's a repost:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...5&l=5602923b6d

Sorry for the delayed response - I don't visit the forum that often and didn't get an e-mail updates on the thread. I'm hoping this will help the folks who are just outside of their warranty - maybe convince ya'll that it is an easy to do DIY job (even if you're just slightly mechanically inclined :P)

Also, if you're able to use these instructions to fix your actuator, be sure to reply back here and let everyone else know!

Good Luck!

Me too!

Just had my 04 TSX driver door lock actuator fixed in Houston - OUT OF WARRANTY.
I went to the dealer and bought the part myself - different dealers had different prices!
Then went to my local mechanic and he installed it for $70. Total=$95
Dealer Wanted $230!

This is seriously BS. About 1 year ago my front driver side went out but luckily I was still under warranty. I didn't think much of it at the time and didn't really care since I wasn't paying for it but now my front passenger went out and my warranty expired last December!! My dealer is charging $150 for part/service which is less than what other people got quoted on this forum. But both going out within a year of each other?! WTF?? I wanted to file a complaint with Acura about this because there's no recall in effect but had trouble finding the number to call until I found this thread posted a few months ago: https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-problems-fixes-128/acura-tsx-door-lock-actuator-start-complaining-acura-708722/

Please start calling to complain. This is total crap. I didn't realize that it was such a common problem until I researched it online and found this forum. Who knows, maybe all 4 of the stupid locks will eventually go out.

Both front actuators on my '04 have gone out, out of warranty. I ordered the parts and am going to attempt to replace them. Really bad form for Acura not to recall these.

Exclamation Im have the same issue

I replaced two of the door actuators (drivers side and passenger) 6 months later im having the same issue on the front passenger and drivers side passenger door !!!

I scanned through all the people having this issue and it seems like its more of a manufacturer defect than anything else

Add me to the list...
Took it in last week for the driver's side door.
I have an '05 and JUST came out of warranty (53k).

I'm contacting Acura tomorrow. This should've been recalled!

It's pissing me off that Acura hasn't issued a tsb for this or at the very least covered this obvious defective part under warranty even after its expired. They obviously know how many people are getting warranty service for this problem.

I have an 05-6MT and replaced the driver side in October of 2008, now it is time for the passenger door. First Acura did it for $196. This time I am buying the $38 actuator and doing it myself. OR, does anyone know where to buy these things in bulk? I have 75K on the car and this problem is not going away any time soon...

Well you've already replaced the 2 front ones so I think you're good to go for at least a few years. I haven't seen anyone say anything about the 2 back doors.

It's really not too hard to fix. Just get the part from the dealer $40 and then there's a few DIY's on here. PM if you need help. Just did my driver door about a month ago. No problems since
