I've heard it's not that hard but it's worth getting the $5 tool to remove the plastic clips that hold the plastic part of door to the metal part. It looks like one of those things you pull weeds out with. A big flat screwdriver kind of thing but the blade is curved and has a notch in it.
I'm sure any one moderately mechanically inclined will be able to handle it. How hard could it be?

With this many of us expericing the problem, it sounds like there is definitely a design problem. If enough of us complain, we may be able to pull something like Dan did...

It depends on how busy the dealership is that day. I had mine done along with an oil change (but the oil change itself usually takes a couple hours - go figure).

So, so far I've seen people mention this happening on 04s and 05s. Is that it? Did they maybe fix the problem after that? Anyone with an '06 experience this failure yet? I'm nearing the 60K mark and thinking I'm just darned lucky so far!!! However, that said, I rarely lock my doors. Never at home and never at work. So, I'm guessing it's a "failure associated with use" type problem, regardless of miles on the car?

Chiming in again for the door lock issue. I just had my driver side go out a couple of days ago. Car is out of warranty, cost me 225 out of pocket for this one. Unlike when it happened on the passenger side it was free. Damn, why could'nt they just go out at the same time.

Well I had the same problem and had it fixed before I even checked here!!! This is definately a design flaw that Honda/Acura needs to address. The cost for me was $105 but I used a reputable shop not the dealer.
On another note I had a drivers side window regulator go bad at almost the same time......and then a week later the window/lock switch went T.U. The regulator cost me $324 to get replaced and the switch $245, again at a shop other than the dealer.

Mine just went out today to the point it will not work unless I use the key. Taking my car in next week and getting a loaner since they need to "look at it" and order a part. I now realize its the reason my car got "broken" into even though I swore I had locked it since my stuff was taken but no forced entry. Too bad they can't replace my ipod and 200 dollar sunglasses.

Add me to the list my driver side door just failed on me also. When is Acura going to address this problem? If this many people on here have this problem, just imagine how many more have it that are not on this forum.

Honda dealership has the same part for better price
The door lock actuator on the TSX is the same as Honda Accord. They use the same part number. I found Honda parts to be much less than Acura parts in general. For the actuator, it was $30 at the Acura dealership and $24 at Honda.

04 TSX 94000. Pasenger's lock is dead, driver's rearly sticks. That can easily be the reason for theft. If you don't lock it manually, anybody can open your door and steel all your stuff.

What about installing an aftermarket actuator. On my honda accord aftermarket actuators worked 10 years with no issues. It seems like Acura's actuators are crap anyways, therefore installing an aftermarket one maybe making sense. Did anybody try to do that? Are there any acura specific things that won't allow to do that?

Did an actuator install on the passenger side last week. Just a note for those doing it, there are two screws within the passenger side door handle that you'll have to remove. This doesn't exist on the driver's side.

what is the acura part number for the lock actuator? I found this 72115-SDA-A01, but it seems to be the mechanical lock(actuator), but not the electrical actuator we are talking in this thread. Please advise.

Damn! I'm a victim of lock sticking. I have an 05, and my passenger door lock "sticks" similarly to the other members of this forum. Good thing I'm under warranty...

I took my car to Sierra Acura, in Alhambra CA, and talked to Andy (He is the best). I told him about the problem, and mentioned that allot of members here have had the same problem, and that since I was out of warranty if he could help with anything. He told me he would try. I was waiting for about an hour, then Andy comes and tells me that it is fixed, and that I can go. He gave me my keys and told him thank you, and he did not even make me sign paperwork or anything.
So all of you who have the same problem please go to this Thread
and list yourself. I will send the list (once there is plenty of names on there) to Acura with a letter, and hopefully we can get them to do a recall or something.
