diming mirror

Does anyone have any thought on the self dimming mirror. Mine did not work until I "sync'd" my key FOB's with the car, which the dealer did not do for me. I was told not doing that this also keeps the mirror from working, odd as it sounds. Anything is possible in these hi tech cars I guess.
For me the mirror still does not dim much, I had LASIK so my eyes are more senistive at night and I would like more dimming. Is there any way to adjust the "gain" in the diming action? I know a piece of clear/opaque tape over the light sensor on the front works, but then the unit sometimes dims a bit during the day if a car with DRL is behind me (thanks GM)

The auto dimming mirror sucks. I hate it. Better tint your windows rather than fighting with the stupid mirror.

bz268.. how does titnitng effect the mirror? I old accor xdwas tinted but iwht the manual mirror obviously it did not matter. Will the damn thing tint at all or get confused by the darkeing. Im all it still works better thtn my mom pontiac's mirror which turn really green really fast then switches back right away. Of course we had other problems, like a cruise control the quit working, brake lights tht quit working etc.. but I digress.... GM what can you say

Mine never worked well. I couldn't tell if it ever worked but with my tinted rear window I really don't need it to work, oh well...

This is all funny to me, because I cant get mine NOT to dim. I have to manually turn it off all the time because it gets so dark I cant see. Was actually looking around to see if anyone else has had that problem.

You can't adjust or syncronize it. Mine seems to work great though; it gets more intense with highbeams glaring at my back in the night.

Yeah, I hate it. OFF should mean off until you decide to turn it on again. Unless it's sunny out, I have to kill it every time I get in the car.

Mine works fine and I love it! When ever there is bright headlights behind me or some guy in a Toyota Corrolla creeps closer to drool over my TSX at night, the rear view mirrors dim accordingly

Do you have dust trapped in that area where the light sensor is?

I have a 30% Tint and the dimming miror works great, I love it. I was worried at first that the tints might effect the dimming mirror but it hasn't. I have an '06 though.

When I first experienced the auto-dimming mirror, 34 months and 38,000 miles ago, I thought it worked well, and I've been completely satisifed with it ever since. No complaints.
