dealer claims tint problems

dealer claims tint problems
Spoke to the dealer about tinting and he said that they won't even do tinting on the TSX because of the back window. Apparently the defroster lines are too thick and air bubbles get in. Additionally when you try to take it off, it sticks to the defroster lines and they get ripped off. Is this true? I tend to think no, since a lot of you guys have the tint. But why would the dealer refuse to take the money and perform the service unless they've experienced it?

hell even my dealership will tint. However DO NOT go through your dealership to have it done.
Most of the time they just have a local shop come out and do it for them. Then they charge you twice the cost. I got my windows and my g/fs windows done at the same place. It just so happens to be he place that tints for both our dealerships and it only costs half as much.

I just found out that all the 04 Acura's were made without any type of felt protection on the windows so if any foreign items (dust, dirt, etc) get down beside the windows the tint is prone to scratch. My front passenger window has a scratch now after only 3 weeks. I called the Acura dealer to confirm the no felt issue and was told that this was true and that they have had alot of complaints not only with the TSX but also with other Acuras that had tint put on the windows. Tint store wants $30/window to install the felt.

I've never had problems with any car's defroster when the window tint was applied. However, when I had the tint REPLACED, when removing the old tint, it damaged the defroster & it ceased to work at that point.

The most likely time that defroster lines may become damaged is during the removal of the tint, a reputable/decent tint shop wouldn't damage the lines during installation.
However, if you ever need the tint removed from the back window I would pay to have it done by professionals, it's not an easy job.
