Unhappy Cold starts and the check engine light

I've never had this problem with my TSX until recently, it seems my car is starting to hate the really cold weather. It sometimes has a hard time turning over in the cold (my CR-V has a hard time turning over too).

I start my TSX and the RPM is hovering around 2,500-3,000 RPM....and I let it warm up for about 5 mins. After I start driving the "check engine" light comes on. I had this problem happen back in December when it was 14 degrees one morning, and I took it to the Acura dealer to fix it. Now the "check engine" light is back on again.

Someone told me to wait until the needle on the tach goes to about 1k RPM so the light doesn't come on. What is maybe causing this? Do I have to warm up my car longer than 5 mins?

wow, around 25-30. mine hovers around 1500, and it's pretty cold here. but it never goes above 1500K. i would go check it out , especially if the check engine light comes on. how many miles do you have on your car?

it was -40C in calgary this morning, my car wouldnt start, i drained the batt trying. and then the block heater didnt do anything, it took my 10 minutes to blowdry the plug to get the cap off. so i luckily had the eliminator from can tire. gave it a charge, then set it to ignition, and bam. i have the block plugged in for the night, i hope it works for tomorrow. lots of my friends and families cars wouldnt start this morning. i couldnt jumpstart my friends jetta, just wouldnt help.

Agent Chen, my guess is you may have a bad secondary O2 sensor. Happenned to me with similar symptoms.

Did the dealer tell you what the CEL code was?

ok! this morning it happend to me... -23 first try engine won't start
2nd time it did.... a few things i've noticed... hope u guys have clear this out for me
b4 i get too paranoid.

i warmed up for 10 min b4 i moved the car... even after 10 kms and normal working
temp (from the temp gauge) i hear the engine is really noisy kinda like a "da da da da" a bit
diesle like sound... is that normal? that sound is kinda like low oil but i m sure my oil is not
low.

when i go to school and poped the hood, i touch my header it was still cold ! ahha kinda funny

also my cloutch had no feed back... kinda rubbery.. my guess that's normal right? cause
of the slow movement of the brake fluid, could this be the same reason for the da da engine
sound cause of viscacity (sp) of the motor oil?

ive been dirving my car after about 15 ,inutes warmup each day, i plugged my car in last night and it worked good. i noticed that the car stays quite frozen, the pedals are stiff, then shifter, and the steering wheel is hard to turn
doesnt take much to understand it tho. shit gets frozen, over night is a long time for that to happen.

I almost forgot about this thread, and I took my TSX to the dealer last week and they looked at my car.....and they told me I had a bad O2 sensor in the car. It has been replaced and my car seems to be running just fine. Now the RPMs are lower, below 2,000.
