2007 TL TYPE S rack and pinion replacement suggestions

Hello everyone! Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I’ve found a ton of great info here over the years, but now I’m in a bind. My 2007 Type-S rack and pinion is leaking heavily from the boot and needs a full replacement.I’m specifically looking for the Type-S rack to maintain the tighter steering ratio, but I’m struggling to find aftermarket or remanufactured options that distinguish between the Base and Type-S. I’d prefer not to pay the $1,400 dealership premium if I can avoid it. Does anyone know a reliable source for a Type-S specific reman rack, or a specific part number I should look for to ensure I don’t end up with a Base model ratio? Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the information. When I type the part number it pulls up the base model racks. Do you mind sharing the link pretty please.

The screenshot with the parts actually do not have the 2.64 end to end turning ration. They all have 3 which is for the base model unfortunately.

Here is a the parts diagram with the "short rack" (Item #1) for auto or Manual trans - About $1100 plus shipping - it's odd because the listing is for type-s but the rack is for the 3.2L according to the description. best to call an acura dealer or this site and see if they can give you an accurate part no.

https://acura.oempartsonline.com/v-2...ted-components

There are a few sites like OEMacuraparts.com that might be closer to you and have a lower shipping cost so look around and make sure to factor in the shipping. You can buy new boots and all that jazz if you want from acura or go aftermarket for them such as the inner tie rods, etc or reuse your old ones.

Make sure you use ONLY ACURA/HONDA Power steering fluid!!! Autozone equivalent is too thin and will cause lots of leaks. If you are using aftermarket fluid, flush it for OEM and see if your leak goes away.

Otherwise your other option is used or to get your current one rebuilt by someone.
