Clean CAI Filter

So i'm guessing i need to clean my filter soon. Is there an easy way to access the filter for cleaning? When I installed it, I ended up taking apart alot to gain acess to that compartment. I'm hoping there is an easier way if i just want to get at the filter.

I've found it easier to just take the driver front wheel off. Trying to save 2 minutes ends up costing you alot of access and visibility to the filter and filter clamp screw.

Unbelievable what kind of difference a clean filter could make.

How often are you supposed to clean it? And how do you exactly "clean" it?

I believe it's every 6 months and just use the K&N cleaning kit. I'm assuming your talking about the CAI filter?

Unless you have dust storms on a daily basis, theirs no reason to clean the filter that often. Every 12K - 15K miles should be fine.

And to the original poster, No their isnt an easier way. Take the front wheel off and its a few clips and bolts and the lining pulls back. It should take 5 mins tops to get to it.

It's been about 13k since I put it on. Maybe I should give it a cleaning soon.

Yea, I cleaned mine after about that many miles and it needed it, espically considering how dry and dusty it is here in SoCal.

Yes, It can be done without taking the wheel off. Just turn the wheel, remove some clips and bolts, then peel back the liner to expose the filter.
