Check Engine, VSA light and major LAG!

Help! I have an '04 TSX 6 speed with a little over 100k miles on it. Upon initial engine startup, both the check engine and VSA lights are on. After warm up, the VSA light disappears and the check engine light will stay on for a little bit then shut off.

Initially, I think everything is OK. Then I experience major lag trying to accelerate from any speed. I had the gas pedal smashed completely to the floor in 2nd gear yesterday going @5/10 mph, and did NOT go anywhere.

I have had this problem before, and was fixed 2-3 years ago...but I seem to have lost my paperwork from the mechanic's shop and I can't remember how the problem was fixed.

Please, if anyone could help it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!

Suggest checking for stored codes. This should provide a clue to the problem.

good luck

I had this happen to my 06 TSX. I'd taken the car in to get detailed and I suspect water got into parts of the engine where water shouldn't be in. Took it to the dealer and they reset something and I was good to go - they also told me the engine shouldn't be detailed.

I know this is a late reply but hope this helps.

I definately appreciate the response!

It seems that this only happens to me when it has been raining. I'm having trouble with the driver's side ballast as well (bought a stinkin' $100 HID and still doesn't work). I think it is having some moisture issues.

I did happen to check with my mechanic about having this problem previously, and the shop put in a new crank sensor (not cheap). I can't afford really any repairs right now. I'm just looking for any home-solutions I guess...

BlackxWidow...go to an AutoZone and have them read the engine codes. Then post the codes here. The explaination they give you is generic, we'll look-up the actual code readouts.
