Check Engine Light with CAI

So for the past month or so I occasionally hear a whistling noise when my revs are about 2500. I didn't have the whistle before I got my injen CAI so I assume its from that, but I've tried tightening all the hoses and clamps so I'm not sure what's wrong.

then pollen season just hit georgia and my "Maint. Req'd" light just came on. I took it to the dealership and they said I would have to leave the car with them to check it out.

In what way could my intake be causing this problem and what can I do to fix it?

Go to Autzone, borrow an ODBII scan tool, and read the code it throws.

You have the IAT sensor hooked up properly? It plugs into the rubber elbow.

So, is it check engine light or maint req'd lights? They are not the same.

yeah sorry it's the maintenance required light. I've got the sensor in right. how much would that scanning tool cost and how difficult is it to hook up?

Well you orignially said it was the check engine light. That is why I said you would need the scan tool. If it's the maintenance required light that it is no big deal. No error code has been thrown It is just reminding you to do the regular maintenance. The manual will tell you how to reset it yourself.

The whistle is the intake itself there's nothing wrong. If you have the dealership look into it and that's all they find (and it will be) they're most likely going to charge you for looking into it.

So the whistle is not the usual sucking sound. It actually sounds like a leak.

The dealer tried to reset my maintenance required light but it wouldn't turn off.

the maint. light is to remind you to get your engine oil changed and your scheduled service $$ forked over. unrelated to your CAI in most cases. I don't think the AC pollen filter has any sort of electronic monitor. i changed mine for the 1st time at 40k. no light.

I didn't think the filter would have a sensor either, however the dealer couldn't get my light to go off on multiple attempts. Then I changed my pollen filter and the light went off. Pollen filter is the only thing I can figure.

I don't know why they wouldn't be able to reset the Maintenance Req'd light. It's straightforward and the procedure is in the manual. The light is only a reminder, not an indicator of problems. Stealerships don't know shit about the very cars they sell.

I thought it was just the dealer service people being retarded, but I couldn't get it to go out either. I looked it up the manual to see how to do it and it didn't work. So I finally gave up and just resigned myself to having the light on all the time. But then I changed my filter and it went out. so good stuff.
