Check Airbag System

ok so.. while i was doing the navi conversion. i first attempted to use the full harness that i received... i finally gave up after i could not get the dash off. i then had to replug all the fuses back in and just figured i would use the navi wires only... now the only problem i see is the car is saying Check Airbag System...
i haven't plugged in the hazard switch [which has that passenger airbag light on it] because i'm still waiting for the rest of the navi harness to come in... i'm lazy to take all the trim off to pop out the unit and plug in that switch. but would that be enough to throw a check airbag system?

i called a different dealership from my own and the service guy there gave me a big run around saying you would have to plug into the computer and run through a bunch of stuff to clear it and it would cost 53$....

any ideas?

More than likely the light will not go off even if you plug in that switch, even though Ill bet that is what caused it to come on. Airbag systems usually do not clear their error codes automatically, so once the light comes on it will stay on until someone with a diagnostic tool clears the code.

I'm not sure what the process to clear an airbag light is, but for a Check engine light, you can clear the code using an ODBII scanner that you can get as a loaner tool from your local Autozone.
