Centre Console Rattle???

Errr,I just got my 06 2 days ago.... Yesterday afternoon when I was driving,I heard some kinda of rattle sound somewhere close to the contre console.Like "da da da da da da"sound. It only occurs on some uneven road,on good road,no sound at all. It's definitely from the cabin, but,I can't really tell where is comes from.I will try to listen more carefully today, however, looking down to the console area during driving is..............
Anybody has the same problem?

I do sometimes, but only over extremely bumpy roads. Doesn't happen often so I don't care and it doesn't bother me.

Yes, and welcome to the club. Center console rattle, rattle behind the stereo, I believe they are one and the same as it's hard to tell where exactly the sound is coming from. Haven't yet seen a fix for it...

I can't search for it now, but if you search under my username, for posts regarding this topic, I have posted a fix that worked IN MY CAR.

Its basically metal-on-metal from a brace behind the stereo. If you take out the center console ala short-shifter install, look up kinda under the stereo, there will be a silver metal piece that follows the same shape as the silver trim across the dash: *****\_______/*****

In my car there were 2 missing screws, or so it seemed. I just took some foam about 3-5mm thick and stuck it between the metal brace, and the metal piece behind it. Problem solved.

That's the fix I used and it works great. Rubber washers work great too

Yeah, I saw your post, and I tried that, but unfortunately, it didn't solve my rattle, maybe it will work for exexexex though...

i've just noticed the center stack rattle within the last couple of days too (annoying buzzing sound). coming back from the gym just now, the buzzing was quite annoying...

i'll consider curls' fix once the weather gets warmer.

how long did it take to remove the center console?

Maybe 1 hr soup to nuts.

Just use the short shifter instructions from Comptech.

I tried the fix for the metal bar behind the nav and it didn't fix it for me. Mine actually had the 2 screws in it. I did find the squeak/metal noise, I was able to stuff foam between the cd players frame and the LED light attachment below it. If you pull the cubby out, put you finger right behind the LED light there is a gap of about .25 inch. To see if it helps, drive your car on a rough road and when you hear the squeaks, shove you finger between the LED unit and the CD player and see if it stops. It did for mine so just shove some foam or even a piece of a rag and it seems to fix it. Was fine the entire winter and should be fine for this summer too since the cold seems to bring on more rattles and squeaks.

The cubby is the empty pocket with the cover. Its were the optional MP3 player would go, you can access the bottom of the nav by pulling this out.

I just started to get a rattle yesterday. It looks like it happens on a bumpy part of the freeway.

Any of you guys in SoCal want to swing by and do the fix?

This sounds complicated and i'm afraid to open the thing up!

well, gonna try to tackle this job.

other than the comptech ss install, can the cassette/multimedia install be used too?

i'd just have to remove the pocket to access the silver metal piece, correct?
