Center Console armrest disassembly
Center Console armrest disassembly
I am trying to take appart the # 6 on the picture. More precisely, I need to replace "Lock Tray" the # 9. However, I cannot get to it. The armrest does not come off, the bottom doen't as well. I removed all the screws that I can see and tried to pull apart the armrest base with a pretty decent effort, but it does not separate...
Please advise ....

As far as I'm aware, the leather part is just a plastic piece underneath that snaps into to the runners on the part it slides on (the part in box 7 with no number). I accidentally half ripped that part off while climbing around inside the car while I was cleaning it. I just pushed it back down and it snapped into place.
I know that's not the most helpful advice but maybe it'll give you something else to look at.

Can't take it off completely. It seems like it goes up a little bit, but doe not want to go all the way. Something holds it.... I cannot figure it out for the second evening, shouldn't probably bother with that lock...
You can get the leather cap off. It takes some patience, but possible..
First thing is to remove the entire lid to the center console (open cover and remove the 2 screws at the hinge)
Next, slide the leather covered portion all the way forward, and flip over (so inside of top is facing up)
Wrap a screwdriver with electrical tape (to prevent scratches), and gently slide into area between the sliding leather part and the "base".
Gently press on the "tabs" to release the leather sliding piece.
Slide Leather portion off the rest of the cover.
Now you can access where the "lock tabs" are screwed in.
Reassembly is exactly the same, in reverse
Good Luck!
P.S. A big Thank You goes out to the person who gave me the same info a couple of years ago, after I broke one of my lock tabs.. (sorry forgot who is was.. might have been Modaway)

My "lock tray" broke too tonight. There are 2 silver looking tabs between the leather cover and the sliding base. Is this where I place the flat head screwdriver in order to release the leather cover?

I journeyed back in the Wayback Machine to find help dismantling the armrest (I also had to replace a broken LOCK, TRAY), and took some pics to help illustrate this problem for future readers. See my DIY post here.
I own a Acura 2006 RL and I needed to replace the covers on my center console armrest and I purchased them from Autotrimming. They even covered them for free!!!! The covers are real top grade leather not the cheap covers that came with the car.
